I appreciate the consistency and great customer service. My first time visiting, I had no complaints. The food was good, and our waitress was on point. The second time, my best friend wanted a recommendation, and I quickly thought of Darker Than Blue grille. He made a reservation for 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve. We arrived at 6:50 p.m. There were three of us and another couple in the restaurant. We had to sit at the bar until the rest of the party arrived, which was fine. The least you can do is offer us water or a drink while we wait. My friend finally asked the male waiter if we could get water until our friends arrived. He said they don't serve drinks at the bar, only at the table when we are seated. Once again, it wasn't busy. I was willing to order cocktails, but he said they only do drinks at the table, but he would do it only this once, and in the future, this isn't allowed. Why the rule? Doesn't the restaurant want to make money? I was put off by that. You may think it's only a drink, and why make a review about this? Well, I appreciate the small things. I want to feel welcomed at an establishment, and I love consistency. I'm a person who appreciates great customer service because I'm in the service industry. Other than that, I'm always willing to give a place another shot. My friends, on the other hand, said they wouldn't come again.

I had a fantastic dining experience at Darker Than Blue Cafe! The seafood entree special was excellent—served hot in a cast iron skillet and perfectly seasoned. It was more than enough for one person, and every bite was delicious. Great atmosphere with great music too. Highly recommend this place for a satisfying meal!

I made a reservation for 15 to have brunch at 1pm for my birthday. Some of my guest arrived a few minutes early and he rudely told them to wait outside. When I arrived, he rudely told me to wait at the door. To keep the peace, I did and one of his staff came from behind the bar to assist me. All of my party had not yet arrived so we sat at the bar. The owner rudely told us to move out the way till everyone arrived. I said one person is on the way, but most everyone was present can we be seated. He was so aggressive and spoke so harshly as if I did something wrong. Threatened he would cancel the reservation. One of my people from my group was irritated by his conduct and because he saw her expression asked her if she had a problem. He was being confrontational in his questioning. When she expressed how rude he was to her, he stated it looks like we are going to have issues and once again threatened to cancel the reservation. He then went on a rant. Very unprofessional in his attitude, appearance and overall as an owner. Not accommodating but very hostile. He Ultimately canceled my reservation. I tried to calm my speak to him, he never acknowledged me, he continued to argue with my party. Two more of my party came in and asked what was happening and he was just as rude and proceeded to kick us out, stating we could take this outside. For a business owner his appearance and approach and manner was uncalled for and unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend his place of business in that alone. I as the person who reserved and was not argumentative couldn't even speak to him, he was so busy addressing my party.

The chef was very unwelcoming and aggressive greeting at the door asking if we had a reservation. No hello, welcome to our restaurant. We said we were going to the bar for drink, then he continued to be rude and said we can’t order food at the bar. Then politely we said, we just want a drink, do you need a reservation for the bar? Then pointed to bar for us to have a seat and walked away. Please note the bar was completely empty, all 10 or so seat. It was one party of 14 seated and couple seated. The other 6 tables were empty. Then bartender came and once again insisted no reservation no food. Again we kindly said, we just want a drink and the bill. Our show starts in 10 min. Then he made our drink, we paid, and left. No thank you, no good bye. Just poor and unfriendly service with a sticky bar top, with a “upscale menu” based on wording not from the appearance of the food on the table , it looked like everyday coffee store carry out food. Nothing impressive.
