PRO: customer service and atmosphere is great
CON: This is by far the most tasteless Jamaican food I have ever eaten. It is very bland.
Plantain: thin, over cooked and mushy
Stew Chicken: taste like plain chicken even with the sauce
Rice and Peas: just rice

Cost: over $30

I've never had a bad meal or a bad time here. I've been here often and enjoy all the food. Jerk chicken is one of my favorite foods, and theirs is on point! The flavor is great, and it's tender and juicy. I got an order of plantains the other day, and they were honestly the best Ive had at a restaurant. I like my plantains a certain way, not cut too thick, not slimy, and a little crisp around the edges... they got it perfectly. Their veggie chunks and curry chickpeas are great, even for the non-vegans. Service is impeccable, and I've always been treated well, with prompt attention. Even when it's busy, the staff maintains great service. The dining area is clean and well decorated, and is great for a solo visit, group trip, or even to host/attend an event. I've done them all. The dining area also serves as a retail space with plenty of books, herbs, incense, etc. It's always a pleasure.

I had a very disappointing experience here. When I asked for a simple glass of tap water, I was refused — and there wasn’t even bottled water available. To make matters worse, my beef pattie was served without a plate or cutlery. Basic service standards like providing water, tableware, and courteous treatment were completely missing. Sadly, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, and I cannot recommend this restaurant.

I called in an order.
I was asked “can you pay over the phone”?

I told the lady I’d prefer to pay in person when I pick up.

She replied “well when you pay your food will be made.”

I asked “how would I pay over the phone”?

She replied “just give your credit card number over the phone and your food will be ready for pickup”

I am very dissapointed that TNAT has affiliated themselves with such unprofessionalism.

All of my interactions with TNAT have been positive and encouraging. This is a first. I understandably will not give my credit card info out over the phone.

I'm a little late to the party Lol but the reviews speaks for themselves. I'm a very picky eater and the food soothed my soul like no other! I will be back! The rice and peas, oxtail and mac and cheese were delicious! Thank you 😊

Diasporan Soul is a small family-owned restaurant in the Hamilton neighborhood offering a variety of plant-based and traditional Jamaican American fusion.

In my opinion, finding good Jamaican food in the area has been a challenge. Often too sweet and not packing enough flavor. But Diasporan Soul has put that opinion to bed. When you walk into Diasporan Soul they have a very nice Afro-centric dining area as well as a sort of apothecary selection for patrons to browse and buy when the dining room is open. However, the night I stopped by they seemed to be doing only carry out, which you order in the back of the restaurant.

My go-to order is always jerk chicken with cabbage, rice & peas, and a beef patty. And Diasporan Soul did not disappoint. The jerk chicken was smoky, seasoned well, and fall off the bone tender. However, next time I'll ask to have my chicken topped with some sauce because that would've definitely taken it over the top. The cabbage was buttery and cooked perfectly and the rice was delicious. The beef patty was actually one of the better beef patties I've had here in the area, with a decent amount of filling.

If you're in the area or looking for a new Jamaican restaurant to try, then you have to give Diasporan Soul a try. The service was pleasant, and the food was delicious and plentiful. I can't wait for my next visit.

Brown stew lentils +rice peas + cabbage and 2 plantains included.

Best vegan Jamaican food I’ve ever had and I’ve been plant based for years!! Idk how I missed this gem all this time but I’ll definitely be coming back. Got it delivered and it was made in good time. The pricing is fair for Jamaican food since it typically is a little more on the pricey. 10/10
