Best bakery in Baltimore— creative rotation of a rich variety of baked goods: bomboloni, cucidati and baci di dama

This place is freaking amazing, I don’t care what anyone says. If you’re gonna be a little cry baby cause they don’t give you lid please grow up. This place is a gem, especially being surrounded by overpriced and mid places to eat. Prices are very reasonable compared to other coffee shops. Every time I’ve been there service has been great. Some of the drinks do take more time to make than maybe your favorite drink at Dunkin Donuts but that’s because they are crafted with love and care and ARE NOT EVEN COMPARABLE! If you are in a rush, make coffee at home in your keurig like a competent human being. They are clear about the way they do things and it admirable. The taste and quality of the product is unmatched by any other local coffee shop in that area and any chain for that matter. Biscotti’s are fire. Their specialty drinks are exceptional and very unique. Drinks come out at perfect drinking temperature. If you don’t feel comfortable driving with your beverage lidless in the car, just make a little extra time to sit and enjoy it before you leave. It’ll be worth it. I recommend the pistachio cappuccino, golden milk with a shot of espresso or two and the cafe con negroli.

I love Doppio! And more so precisely because of what others might think of as "negatives." In a world where its rarer everyday to find food and beverage businesses with truly unique perspectives, I crave spots that have a clear vision they won't compromise. I imagine it's really hard to stick to their environmental values day-in and day-out, but biodegradable plastic doesn't actually biodegrade. We can all use reminders to do better by our planet, and I, too, have spilled some of my creamy cappuccino on my cute outfit. C'est la vie! <3 Don't sleep on the arancini, bombolini, or the unassuming but delightful chocolate rye cookies.

I’m sure they have great coffee, but seriously, what kind of coffee shop is closed on Monday mornings?

There are independent coffeeshops in Baltimore that deserve your business – this isn't one of them. They refuse to provide lids for any drink, which is weird from an environmental and practical perspective. I missed my bus because I hadn't anticipated picking between lidless coffee or a $3 upcharge. They're effectively turning away customers on a budget/with accessibility needs. From a environmental perspective, the cups they use are internally coated in plastic which makes them unrecyclable, and are otherwise trash. For all intents and purposes, the cups ARE single-use plastic. From a practical perspective, it ensures that the only people who buy their coffee are those who live nearby or want to sit and relax/work at R. House. Their coffee is pointedly not for customers who are on the go in any circumstance where they would need a lid.You can ask them to "borrow" one of their reusable cups – note that this actually means spending $3 extra on a reusable mug. Overall, it's a lot of practical loss for very little genuine environmental benefit.

Spending $5+ on a drink only to have it spill on your clothes and to the car is awful. The establishment refuses to get biodegradable lids for their cups. No, I don't want to travel with a mug, no I don't want to purchase or borrow one from the establishment. In the rush to be eco friendly makes patronizing unpractical.

I really wanted to like this place but, as others have noted, the service was slow, rude, and condescending. The food and coffee were ok, but not worth the nasty attitude that comes with it. I paid a lot, waited, bit my tongue and didn't get rude back, then found out about the lid situation. Why not just get compostable cups and lids? Or mayby they just like being unfriendly. ??‍♂️

This is quickly becoming my new favorite coffee place in a neighborhood with a wealth of coffee options, and I think is the best cafe to occupy the spot in R House specifically so far. The coffee is terrific, and the house-made baked goods not only delicious but one-of-kind. No generic scones and croissants you find at every cafe but amazing tarts, olive oil cake, and for a hearty breakfast, stratas that are out of this world. If I had any wishes it's that they had more lunch options (R House overall is woefully lacking a decent sandwich shop), but I think they are still experimenting with what works for the location. They are somewhat expensive, but given some of their unique and high quality offerings, I find it worth it for a treat.Staff are very friendly, helpful, and informative. They work fast without seeming rushed, manage POS well, and seem invested in your enjoying your drink/meal. While the coffee and food is high end, they aren't pretentious about it, unlike similar businesses.Bonus points for their commitment to minimal/no plastic.Just wish the couches closest to the cafe were more comfortable and cleaner, but that's on R House, not them, so doesn't factor into my rating.

This Sicilian bakery is a must-do if you are in the area or see one of their stands at a farmer’s market. So delicious and authentic, the love they put into their food sets them apart from many others. Not sure why they aren’t getting more attention.

I never went to the storefront, but plan to because of how amazing their food market stand is. I dream about that marinara sauce.
