Just walked out of your restaurant because we stood and waited, yet no one ever came out to greet us nor tell us how long of a wait it would be. We just stood there watching other customers eat. Given that the restaurant is small and has limited seating, how could we be overlooked while standing in the middle of the small space?

This injera was very old!
The portion was small!
The food taste like it was from the day before yesterday!
And to top it all off... Flies!
The owner needs to take some pride in what they're preparing for consumption!
I'm a little ashamed I

I have always enjoyed the food there. As have the people I have been with. Most recently went there for a birthday celebration and we wanted to give our friends a novel experience. They all had a great time. We got a three platters for eight people so there was a lot of variety of dishes to choose from and a lot of quantity.

I had lunch here today and really enjoyed it! This was my second visit, and I’m glad I came back. The food is flavorful and nicely presented, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. One detail I really appreciate is that they offer a gluten-free injera option—it’s such a thoughtful addition that makes it easier for more people to enjoy the experience fully. The staff is friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be returning again soon!

This was the first place I ever had Ethiopian and the only, for many years, as I was growing up. I always loved it. However, since moving away, my appreciation for it has only grown stronger. Boston, Chicago, NYC. I’ve tried a lot of other places and they are either wildly subpar or just never quite hit the same highs that Dukem does/did.

I cannot recommend it enough. Truly spectacular and surprising that my first foray still stands undefeated and always lives up to my own hype when I return. Veggie combo + awaze tibs is my go-to.

I went with Vegetarian friends, but that didn't stop the food from being super delicious. Incredible flavor and a variety of combinations to pick from. My only real complaint is the heat from poor AC but the music videos in the background distracted me from feeling it too much.

I never pass up the chance to stop by dukem whenever I’m back home in dc/Maryland visiting friends and family. I make sure if I’m home for a week 5 of my meals lunch or dinner is from dukem. Cuz there’s nothing comparable to it in nyc, sadly not many East Africans /ethiopians here.
Give them a try, It’s hands down the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. The tibs and the timatim salat are my absolute favorites.

After we landed at BWI, we stopped at Dukem Ethiopian Restaurant. The food was decent, but the Enjera was not appealing. The restaurant lacks air conditioning, which made the dining experience quite uncomfortable. It’s surprising that such conditions are permitted for a restaurant to operate in the city. Although there were two fans in place, they were insufficient for cooling the space. Additionally, the food is too pricey for the value it offers. As an established restaurant, I expected a higher standard of service, comfort, and overall experience.
