Karey was great. Compliments to the chef. Food was amazing!
I ordered the crab soup and jambalaya.
I need to come back for the crab dip!
Great eating experience. I recommend to try on a weekday as the chef can take his time to make the food right with the utmost quality.

No doubt the food is excellent! Big servings, very fresh and savory. Drinks are excellent as well. However, the service was horrible. We were served by two young ladies not sure if they knew to the business. But rushed us through our meals , took away our drinks while we were not finished. The atmosphere was not warm or friendly but sufficient for a dinner. Although the food was great I don’t think my family and I will be returning.
Kid-friendliness: None, not kid friendly.

Saw recommendations online and sure glad we did. Red beans & rice, a shrimp sandwich were excellent. Don't pass on the cornbread either.

My husband and I have been going to Ethel’s for 25 years. It is consistently fabulous, and warm and cozy and just delicious!!! The warmth originates from Ed and Nick and all who work for them. Down to earth, friendly people, surrounded by a very cool atmosphere.
We love EVERYTHING on their menu…. Did I forget to mention the most incredible crab dip with crostini’s on the side. Not sure a month goes by without a carry out or eat in order! Devine👍
Thank you Ed and Nick!!! Wishing you all well…
Best

In Baltimore on business and carefully selected Ethel’s for my only night out. While waiting to be sat for a 7:30 reservation, I heard “86 Tuna”. Ok, fine. Sat down and had prompt, polite service. Was allowed to try the wine before I committed. After ordering my app, chef (who is running food and bussing tables in addition to kitchen duty) sizzles me on a dish that, “if you’ve never been to Baltimore” is a must-have. When the server came back, I ordered said to dish only to be told they don’t have it. When I commented that Chef had just sold me on it, the server replied, “Chef doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” When he appeared later, I gave my best wtf look and asked and his response was, “oh, it goes fast”…. Meanwhile, another table is trying to order catfish and the servers go through a complete investigation to see if they even have that with the response being, “we’re low, but we’ve got one.” Note that it was barely 8pm.
It sounds like 1. Chef needs to focus on his kitchen, 2. they need to prep WAY more food for Friday night service. My tip was a reflection of my disappointment. I hopped across the street and was made to feel perfectly at home in the neighbouring tavern. I didn’t pay Uber $$ from my hotel for a 1-night experience to have a disorganized kitchen and disrespectful serving staff.

Absolutely delicious!! Will definitely be back. Absolutely loved the atmosphere, the music, the staff, and the open kitchen concept. I felt welcomed and was watering at the mouth as I saw the food come out of the kitchen. The crawfish dip and the corn bread with the chive butter are absolutely to die for, and something I'll be dreaming about the next few weeks.
Parking: You can park at the Baltimore Clay Works parking lot, there are metered spots, and it is a very short walk to Ethel's from there. There is street parking with parking meters out front and on the adjacent streets. You can park on Sulgrave for free and walk a short distance.

We usually come to Ethel’s Creole twice a year. The food is truly amazing. If you are in the mood for a gumbo or jambalaya, this is the place to go. They serve the best shrimp and portions are huge. During our last visit on a Wednesday evening, we were the only customers till the end of the meal at which time a lonely customer walked in. With such delicious food, this place should be packed.

Fabulous food. We're Louisianan and approve. Generous portions could serve two. I thought all night about the second meal I would get out of chicken jambalaya. We had takeout, but the interior looked cute, and the staff were lovely.

shrimp boat was bad. underseasoned, the rice was sad, and i had to spit a mussel out because it tasted like a heavily used portapotty.
crab dip was ok. very loose and underseasoned, but it was alright.
ribs were ok, but you can definitely make those at home.
cute place, tho.

Food here is amazing. Quiet little restaurant with authentic creole food. You can tell the chef puts a lot into their craft and genuinely cares about the food they’re putting out. Highly recommended.
