We really enjoyed meeting our graduate school friends at Gertrude's in Baltimore. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the food was outstanding. Service was excellent. We plan to return there in the near future. Highly recommend!
Always excellent! And a good value, too. Crab cakes and shrimp salad are always perfect, but don't skip the ethereal cream of crab soup and crab imperial. Or the decadent Gertrude's Candy Bar dessert.
The food at Gertrude's is always outstanding. The fresh and creative entrees as well as the tempting homemade desserts make dining here a pleasure. My salmon was perfectly cooked and served with deliciously seasoned fresh spinach. Our attentive waiter checked in but did not hover or rush us through our meal.
My friend and I have dined there many times and have always had a great experience. Unfortunately, today was not one of those. Moments after we sat down, our server, Eric, accidentally spilled our mimosas all over my clothing, in my designer handbag, and all over the table. He profusely apologized. The manager, Paul, was at the hostess stand and witness the entire episode. He NEVER came over to check on me and to see if we had everything we needed. Another server, Taylor, immediately came over to assist Eric and us and did whatever she could to help. She also stated that Paul would come over to check on us. He did not. Eventually, he stopped at the empty table near us with the water pitcher, but instead of approaching us and checking on us after making eye contact with me, he walked around the other way and went to the table behind us. Approximately, 10 minutes later, and 20-25 minutes after the incident, he came over and said, “Taylor said I should come over. I comped your drinks. Do you need anything else?” We said we did not. It was a bit too late for him to make an appearance, and at that point, there was no need to engage with him. Taylor and Eric were great, but it was very disappointing that the manager, who witnessed the incident happen, did not see fit to ensure that we were ok, that my clothing and bag were not stained or ruined, or that we had been taken care of properly. I expected more from a manager at Gertrude's. I will not return based on Paul's actions, because it is clear that I was not valued as a customer.
The ambiance, service, and food were all amazing! We didn't have fresh cut flowers on our table like everyone else but my boyfriend got the ones off the server table with the water pitchers so all was well.
We had reservations at 5 for a 6:30 fever production Our uber driver was running late and I called and the young girl moved out reservation to 5:15. We were finally seated at 5:55 and literally had 20 minutes to eat. Could only order cold food as suggested by the wait staff since we had a 6:30 concert. Very poorly organized and always have to uber and incur that cost due to poor parking choices!!
Food and service werr excellent. Staff was very pleasant, accomodating and helpful. We look forward to returning to try more of this delicious menu in the lovely setting.
The atmosphere is lovely and our table for 2 was cozy. The restaurant was still bustling on a Sunday at 2pm. Our server was excellent. They have a very nice selection of hot teas, which is difficult to find.
Gertrudes is a throwback to the luncheon dining experience of times past. The menu is classic and the restaurant is set just off from the BMA which makes for an inherently elevated experience.
Ate at Gertrudes on Sunday 9/28/25 and everything was A+. Great menu, drinks, soups, burger and entrees all fantastic. Great drinks if you have someone who is alcohol free too. Restaurant was busy and we had reservations were seated quickly and several crew members served us and checked in on how everything was. Crab soup, Crab Omelet and Salads were amazing as was the staff! We already talked about going back for dinnner A+.

Breakfast pearl hominy was not as palatable as I expected. Pearls were harder then expected and had a bland taste.other item on the plate were quite satisfactory. Blood orange soda tasted more like grapefruit, but it was good so I drank it without making a fuss. Service from Eric was very nice and attentive. Overall good experience and will come back again mostly because I like many items on the menu and want to try them.
We always love to visit the Gertrude's restaurant because the food is good and the service is outstanding. We plan to return again very soon. Fords
Tom provided top notch service and accommodated my family members with special needs. He made our experience just lovely
Had a lovely birthday brunch after viewing the art at the BMA. Food was great as always based on Maryland classics! Lovely setting and garden view. Would definitely recommend and will return again!
Great Chesapeake centered food in one of, if not the most beautiful outdoor dining settings in Baltimore.
