LoCAL Restaurant and Kitchen

I enjoyed this restaurant the first time I went. It was pretty noisy but the food was well prepared and tasty. I like being able to see exactly how they prepare the meals. I have strict dietary restrictions due to allergies and I was able to eat something and gently modify it.I attempted to make another visit but it was closed around noon on a Sat. The site does not specify days and times, that would really support.

The place is closed and the app still allowed us to book for this place. It was a complete waste of time

I had my birthday dinner there and it was amazing. The ambiance was everything! The food was amazing!!! Very flavorful!! We had shrimp and grits , chicken, and steak. The drinks were on point as well. Calvin, our server was knowledgeable and nice. I will be back for a date night

Great family experience. The Duck Confi Hash is really a great dish. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming.

Had brunch there! The shrimp and grits were RIDICULOUSLY YUMMY! The chicken was good, but the waffle was too dense and chewy, but still good. Some people might like it like that.

Amazing food and incredible staff

A reservation was made to the restaurant. An email confirmation was sent and accepted. The business never canceled, nor a courtesy call, as to why it was closed, and not open upon our arrival. This is not good business.

Black owned spot- chef was phenomenal and came out to introduce himself & customize our order. Can't wait to return

Delicious food and cool, relaxed vibe make LoCal totally worth the trip. It's right around the corner from Chesapeake Shakespeare Co on Calvert so it's perfect for a pre-theater dinner. My friend & I got the grilled octopus salad and then Shrimp & Grits and Pork & Beans. All of it was superb. I will definitely go back.

Had a wonderful time! Everything I tried was delicious! My drink was also very good! The atmosphere is inviting, classy, and can be ideal for a special occasion. I attended a reunion and we all enjoyed ourselves. The food and service was great overall! Highly recommend especially if you are from out of town and want a nice place to eat.

Excellent French food, I can't say enough great things about it. The space is beautiful (the old Chez Hugo) but sadly in Downtown Baltimore which is not a great location right now. Let's all go there as much as we can to help this gem of a restaurant succeed!

A true taste of home! Exception cuisine with that down home flava. Those wings are fire & the shrimp & grits hit the spot. As a Native New Yorker I have my pick of great restaurants but LoCAl offers that chef's charm and hospitable wait staff on top of amazing food. Don't miss this choice stop!

Hidden treasure on Redwood in Baltimore city. The food and drink were delicious. The shrimp and grits were flavorful, more like prawns actually. The roasted chicken was moist and extremely tasty. Like every bite was like wow. The snapper was light, delicate and delicious as well. And to top the off the Old Fashion was spot on. Can't forget to mention the service....excellent.

I wanted to love this place. The service and order of food was so disorganized. The drinks took over 20 minutes to come out. We ordered charcuterie board, that came out AFTER one side of grits (which was a side for one of our entrees) came out. The grits were delicious. The food quality was good and seasoned well but execution of food was inconsistent. Both me and my partner got salmon, the sizes were drastically different. The salmon over cooked. My potatoes came out 15 minutes AFTER they served the entrees. The shortcake from the strawberry shortcake was so hard that I had to force my spoon through it. And dry. The whipped cream was delicious tho. Best bite of the meal was the grits, worst bite was the shortcake. Serve staff needs more training. Things were really disorganized. If 20% gratuity is going to be added to every bill, even for a party of two, the service should make sense.

Love this spot! Good food, delicious menu, that wasn’t overwhelming. We got the opportunity to meet the Chef and a few members of the team - they were wonderful!
