People must be sleeping on this place. Good food, good portions and good prices. What more can you want?

Old fashioned breakfast/lunch in the shopping street. I hope they could update the manual with more veggies and put some decoration through the shop.

The Lunch Box is a very small old-timey style diner. That could use a deep cleaning.and smells like roach spray. The lady at the counter appears anxious but nice. The cook (owner maybe) didn't smile much but seemed nice to the customer. The bacon, eggs and home fries breakfast platter was good.

A hole-in-the-wall kind of breakfasr diner that has the most friendly employees. You can have an omelet with a coffee for less than $11.

THEY WILL RANDOMLY STOP SERVING YOU FOOD. I go to this place often. Normally I grab carry out breakfast. On Wednesday this week I was trying to place an order while driving and had poor service. The call got disconnected before I could complete my order, so I called back. First I got a busy tone. The next call failed because I didn't have service. So I gave up on placing the order and ate something else. I called today (Saturday so 3 days later) to place a similar order and they recognized me (since I order the same thing often) and asked if I placed an order the other day. I told them I tried and failed to put in an order because of cell reception. They said they completed my order but no one showed up (though they never called me back to confirm). I apologized for the technical difficulties and assured them I was near by and ready to pick it up as soon as it's ready. After a brief hold, the nice lady on the phone told me that the owner was refusing to complete my order. I was puzzled and only said "wait what?" Then she hung up on me. I called back and said we got disconnected then she explained that they would not serve me and hung up again. I'm pretty bummed out, this is my favorite breakfast place and I made an honest mistake. 3 days later they still remember me and refuse to serve me. So am I just not allowed to do carry out here? Is there a statute of limitations? Please next time call back to confirm an order if you get disconnected in the middle of a call since you have strict policies to stop serving people.

Hot made to order breakfast, generous serving, unbeatable price.Ordered the Avenue or an omelette with bacon, sausage, ham and cheese with grits, toast and a coffee all for $11.34...our go to breakfast spot located in Hampden. Feels like the place where everybody knows your name!

Current EraThis restaurant has really lost its mojo since the pandemic. The service has gotten slow and the food preparation has gotten kinda sloppy. We had to ask to get the table wiped down. The server was visibly ill and told us as such. We've been eating here for about 20 years and it's been a good run. But it's time to move on.Pre-PandemicThe server is a delightful and friendly person. She also remembers what your favorite items are. The blueberry pancakes are the best! It is also an inexpensive place to eat.

First off, best homefries around. Deal woth it. Second... this isn't gonna be everyone's vibe, but I love this place. There is no pretense here. A bar, a grill, and some tables. I'm so relieved that they weathered the Covid storm and haven't changed a bit. It's not some "preserved" piece of the past, but proof that not everything needs to be an a bougie fusion restaurant and art gallery to survive. Just be simple, affordable, tasty, and above all, be consistent, and people will keep coming home.Yeah, you might have to listen to an old white dude at the bar give a well-intentioned-but-misled rant about "woke" culture now and then, but you'll also usually find you're not the only one rolling your eyes, either. It's honestly refreshing to have some place in my life that's not just a carbon copy of my usual political "bubble." Everyone feels welcome at The Lunchbox and that's beautiful.I feel like place is a critical but often overlooked part of the soul of Hampden. I hope it never changes

Tasty food. A no frills diner.. It is nice to see people from all walks holding casual conversation. The attire is extremely casual.
