Dana Mackey I have seen your place for years traveling up and down Belair Rd but unfortunately had never stopped BUT I know you're a staple in the community. It wasn't until I was with my sistergirlfriend Courtney's SoothingHands and she said "Pooh before we go home, let's stop here for some crabs" and she got crabs and shared with me....they were AMAZING, that was last week...As you can see, yesterday I was back to get my more and will continue to come back. Had a HORRIBLE customer service experience with this place that came HIGHLY recommended by a friend. I prefer to shop BOB but this was just disappointing. Crabs were great, service was rude, dismissive, and unconcerned. I ordered 2 dozen large males via GrubHub under my friend’s account, and when I went to pick them up, the young lady’s entire expression was that she did not want to be there or be bothered by anyone. Mackey's Caribbean Cuisine offers authentic Caribbean dishes in generous portions. Their popular menu items include oxtails and jerk chicken, though the jerk seasoning can sometimes be on the sweeter side. The jerk platter is plentiful, while the curry shrimp kiddie meal could use more vegetables. The macaroni and cheese is decent, and the greens are good.
Customers have noted some inconsistencies, with occasional quality control issues on dishes like the oxtails. However, the food is generally good, and the portions are generous. Recent reviews mention changes in the menu, such as the use of chicken thighs instead of breast, which has impacted the taste. Additionally, some customers have experienced price increases without a corresponding improvement in quality or quantity.
Despite these minor challenges, Mackey's remains a good option for those seeking Caribbean cuisine, with room for improvement in certain areas.
