Mackey’s Caribbean Cuisine

So I went to Mackeys today to get a curry chicken platter, they had no cabbage so I ask for a substitute vegetable she said 2 more 2$ I’m like how if you don’t have what I supposed to get , long story short I didn’t get the food because I refuse to pay extra for a vegetable I supposed to get so I said take a 1$ off since you don’t have cabbage she said no so I said I’ll take my business elsewhere

If I could give a negative number, I would. I received spoiled food, smdh. Instead of rice and peas, I got yellow rice. I can go on and on, but the fact that they gave me spoiled food speaks volumes.

This place has really changed for the worst every since the old ownership sold this man absolutely don’t know anything about Caribbean food the food is very very dry and always out dated I try repeatedly to try patronize this black business in my area but he continues to fail time after time I’m completely done maybe he need to focus on the crab spot he owns cause this is not it for him sorry!!!!!

The cook was very unprofessional.and at the same time she was taking orders. Very rushy,rude to my friend while he was deciding on what he wanted to get.upon receiving our food.i ordered macaroni and cheese. In which looked like a year old tried to make it I don't know what she thought was macaroni and cheese. But that wasn't it.the elbows was very dry. Look like she just took some sherreded cheese and just sprinkled some on top.the brown rice tasted like the rice was brought from the supermarket. Already made rice. The you just have to put in the microwave. I was supposed to get jerk chicken. Turned out it was regular chicken that was basically burnt. My friend food was awful 😖 he ordered the ocktail's in which she didn't cook them right at all was so chewy.gave him a whole bunch of brown rice with beans.i forgot the other side order he got BUT WON'T BE EVER GETTING OUR BUSINESS AGAIN. AND THE PLATER'S WAS VERY EXPENSIVE. $20.00 A piece with taxes. And you know the funny thing is that a customer warrend me not to eat from this place.

Reluctantly, leaving this review, I have been patronized on this place for quite a few years now I have never had a problem with them, their food or their service. But I am quite annoyed when people go up on their price, but go down in their quality or their quantity. While an increase in price is worn to at times you do not substitute that for the quality or the quantity of your product or service. On my recent visit, I noticed that the prices went up without an option to have either a small or a large portion. Also, the cabbage normally has carrots and other veggies in there it was just mushy cabbage. I also noticed that instead of chicken breast, they are now using chicken thighs, which I despise. That changes the whole taste of the dish, I do not like chicken thighs. I do not like dark meat. I do not like them Sam I am. 🤪😂 sorry had to throw that in there felt like the cat in the hat for a minute. Also, I would greatly appreciate it if they would update those ceilings in the walk-in area because I was kinda grossed out 🫣 other than that the food was delicious. It just lacked the quality that I had become accustomed to.

I ordered an dark meat jerked chicken an Mac and cheese and cabbage the Mac and cheese was nasty and the cabbage wasn’t no where to be found and I had beans and rice i didn't ask for

The food was good when I first started coming a year ago but now everything is spicy. I would get the brown stewed chicken because it’s not spicy at all but now it’s spicy and the pepper steak is over cooked and very dry. Nothing like the food o had that made me come back.

Dana Mackey I have seen your place for years traveling up and down Belair Rd but unfortunately had never stopped BUT I know you're a staple in the community. It wasn't until I was with my sistergirlfriend Courtney's SoothingHands and she said "Pooh before we go home, let's stop here for some crabs" and she got crabs and shared with me....they were AMAZING, that was last week...As you can see, yesterday I was back to get my more and will continue to come back. This gentle giant gave me great customer svc. Please go support him. In the cut at Belair Rd and Moravia 4203 Sanner Avenue

I will never try this place again. The cabbage tasted like it came out of a can. The rice and peas were not cooked. It was so crunchy. The oxtails were overcooked with no flavor. First and last time for me. You did t even get plantains with your meal. But they prob would have been a disaster too.

Ordered jerk chicken and could immediately tell they used Walkerswood jerk paste in the jar. I use that at home so I was very disappointed.

I got a bunch of food from here for the week and its some of the worse caribbean food I have ever had. Not enough seasoning, bland, chicken is nasty, goat is awful, and the peper steak is just nasty! Nothing about it is good and I won't be back

Can’t speak on service or atmosphere I ordered delivery. Was very disappointed. Meat was almost all fat and bones. Stew chicken, curry chicken, Mac n cheese, and cabbage were extremely bland.
