Our experience at Matsuri was enjoyable from the time we arrived until we left. Wonderful service, setting, and food - we split some rolls and shumai. All very good.
For our large party of eight they gave us a quiet table in the upstairs dining room. It was like our own private parties so that's why the ambiance scores so well. But the food! We had a range of sushi's appetizers it was all delicious and beautifully presented. What a great evening.
Amazing food and restaurant. Only issue is that we're were put into a corner and it took us awhile to receive service
We sat a table for over 30 minutes and no one ever came to take our order. While others around us received food and beverages, we were ignored.
Great atmosphere in the heart Fed Hill. The sushi was amazing. Started off with a house salad and the ginger dressing was great touch. The sushi tasted fresh and delicious. The salmon melted in my mouth. Highly recommend.

Their quality with raw sushi is top notch! I got the Tekka Don (tuna over a bowl of sushi rice). Tuna was the freshest......exceptional quality (I've had sushi in Japan, Los Angeles, New York, Hawaii). They also make an amazing salmon skin roll (crunchy skin in the roll) and a yellowtail cheek (grilled with excellence). We also ordered tempura. Excellent. Light crunch batter. Not an overwhelming amount. But very good tempura.
I learned about this location when The Banner wrote up an article about this place. 3rd generation ownership. Their quality is exceptional and worth the prices they charge as well.
Highly recommend. So glad this location is also close to where I live.
Street parking and a nearby parking garage are walking distance and available, but the garage is a tad steep with cost (15.00 for 2 hrs).
There's a parking garage near

Do not treat your delivery drivers like second class citizens. And do make them wait in their cars because you don't have your timing in check. Do not post rude messages towards delivery drivers when delivery drivers are attempting to pickup orders inside of your restaurant. Delivery drivers are people and should be respected as much as the customers that dine ethere.

Matsuri is such a gem to have nearby. I've been a bunch of times but keep forgetting to review because I always leave in a daze before drifting home to pat my stomach for the rest of the night, lol. This is the only sushi place I've been that does justice to ama ebi. The fried shrimp head takes me straight to heaven. ? ♥️The sushi rolls are also so pristine in terms of structure + flavour. ✨ You'd be hard pressed to find a sloppy roll. The rice also has lovely chew + seasoning. I could eat all of Matsuri's sushi rolls without any soy or wasabi and be perfectly happy - they're that good. ?The tempura has amazing texture, but definitely needs the sauce to add flavour. The shrimp is better than the vegetable tempura, for my personal taste. The eel over rice is also so indulgent in texture and flavour. If you are with someone who doesn't like raw fish, this is a great choice for them.I don't think Matsuri is the spot to get random freebie slices like Kiku on Light Street, but I don't think you'll care since the quality is so top notch. ?? This restaurant is on my frequent flyer list, especially if we are dining out with family. ✈️

Went for sushi with two of my friends. Got the fresh crab california (delish!) and they got the samurai roll and the yellowtail sushi. They both enjoyed their rolls very much. I recommend going during happy hour and trying their passionfruit drink. To die for! Reasonably priced and very tasty. Definitely worth stopping in.

I’ve been coming here since I was a toddler and love it every time. So glad they’re still around.
The food was ehhh, I got the vegetable fried rice which was the only good thing I ate from my order and I got the spicy California roll and the soft shell crab roll which were both disgusting. The California roll barely had any crab or avocado in it plus the cucumber took up the majority of the roll;it also didn’t taste that great either. & the soft shell crab roll was the WORST, it was extremely salty and fishy tasting, I hated it. I will never go here again.

Was hoping to find a good teriyaki & Japanese food spot in Baltimore. This was not it, and I was surprised at the high ratings online. The sashimi was pretty poor quality (some pieces slimy, fishy), and the soba noodles needed a lot more sauce. Sushi rolls were okay, but it did not seem like the food was freshly prepared. Best to stick to Ellicott City for any sort of Asian cuisine.
