We went last night visiting from New Orleans. The owner was so sweet and really took pride in the sushi! The sushi was definitely some of the best we’ve ever tried and the lychee saketini was sooo good! The whole experience made my trip to Baltimore so much better! The restaurant is very small but we didn’t have to wait long. 10/10 RECCOMEND!! <3

It was a really terrible experience. First of all, it smelled like a sewer.

I had the spicy California Roll, perfectly spicy. The chicken fried rice my lady had was delicious. Loved the family atmosphere.

When we first visited this place nearly two years ago we thought it would be our go to. The decor is evocative of authentic Japanese vibes. The cooks are nice and always busy. There was a friendly young woman a few times during dine in, but the past few times we picked up orders to go there was another young woman who seemed diligent but just visibly in a bot so good mood.

So the food! First impressions: authentic and fresh. However, gradually we started noticing that not everything is okay here. Not sure what is going on, financial troubles? But the place is unattractive and depressing. Instead of getting creative and rethinking their approach they are cutting corners and offering lower quality food. The happy hour was a complete disaster. I know some places serve smaller portions at discount happy hour prices but here we were served old stock refried crunchy rolls. Yuk. Somehow we were too shocked and embarrassed for them to complain. The tuna looks a little too bright and after watching videos on how fish un the US is sold “refreshed” with added color and scent, it’s scared me. Seeing how they cut corners on serving old rolls I just don’t trust the rest of the ingredients. It feels like a family place. I know the economy sucks and it’s the small businesses that suffer. And do I wish them well but I also want quality food when I eat out.

Both sushi and ramen here are amazing. The sushi selection is enormous, delicious, and clearly rolled with care.

And the ramen doesn't go light on the fix-ins and the broth is fatty, demanding to be sipped separately. Also, the portion is enormous. If you get the gyoza ramen, the dumplings are soft but don't fall apart easily.

Place does have a bar area but it's more like a classy pub than a Fed Hill bar. It's also kid-friendly.

I went to a private pre-wedding party here on the second floor. Food and service were excellent. Comfortable surroundings. Bill, the friendly proprietor, made himself available throughout the occasion to keep checking on everything. I really enjoyed the steak stir fry, the tempura, sushi, dumplings and Lo Mein. Thank You Bill for your hospitality!

My family and I love this restaurant. The service is second to none and the food is very good. The second floor dining room feels like a magical extra space and is beautifully decorated.

Charging the price of nearly a TWO piece serving of sushi (also not indicated in the restaurants online selections) compared to the near if not same exact price for 2 pieces of sashimi/nigiri per order should be considered robbery. Flavor? cool. Example? Paying 5.25 for one slice of salmon over a small ball of rice when an order at another restaurant is 6.00 for a 2 piece order. At least let the customer know how many pieces are in a serving of nigiri/sashimi at your establishment. Paying over $50 and having nothing makes no sense at all. Will not be returning until transparency and other improvements are made.

The food is not worth the price.
I ordered tge shrimp fried rice and for $25 the rice shouldn't be hard and has no flavor. I would never eat here again

Our experience at Matsuri was enjoyable from the time we arrived until we left. Wonderful service, setting, and food - we split some rolls and shumai. All very good.

Food always tastes fresh. The atmosphere is comfortable and the variety of options is awesome. They have something for everyone here. I’m a big fan of the flaming dragon roll on the sushi side and the Oyoko Don on the kitchen side. There is a reason this place has been open so long with others that come and go. The staff is also the nicest you could ask for and care about you having a good experience. It’s my favorite restaurant in Baltimore

For our large party of eight they gave us a quiet table in the upstairs dining room. It was like our own private parties so that's why the ambiance scores so well. But the food! We had a range of sushi's appetizers it was all delicious and beautifully presented. What a great evening.
