Negative 5 stars are deserving here.
I was very disappointed to find out that the not so Monumental Brewing Company cancelled a long-planned concert performance by Modern Fuzz during their sound check!!!! Myself and several other fans were enroute to the venue when we found out that it was cancelled without advanced notice. Modern fuzz is a band that routinely draws a loyal fan base exceeding over 100. The band was ready, unfortunately management was not for a show booked in May for a September performance.

To have the band told at sound check that their music does not fit the genre that they want for their patrons is narrow minded and shortsighted. Perhaps if your patrons had the chance to listen to them beyond a five-minute sound check I am sure they would have been impressed, unfortunately, we will never know. This venue needs to understand the need for diversity in music and allow their patrons to decide if a band should stay and play, instead of the opinion of one person.

Today we have these amazing tools (Google) that allow you to plan and organize events such as these. Had you taken the initiative to perform a Google search in advance, you would have seen they are on Spotify, Bandcamp, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Apple music. By clicking on any of these links you would have gotten a better understanding of who they are and what kind of music they play.

Sadly, in this case not only do the fans of Modern Fuzz suffer from a missed performance, but the city of Baltimore suffers from the economic impact of lost revenue on the sale of gas, food, beverages and entertainment.

I do not recommend patronizing this establishment. Plenty of other breweries in Baltimore to spend your evening at, rather than spending it at Monument City where they cancel local talent last minute for no logical reason. Numerous fans were en route to see the Modern Fuzz show on 9/13 but “management” decided to cancel DURING SOUND CHECK due to a “genre discrepancy”?? Who does that?? The show had been booked FOR MONTHS, giving “management” plenty of time to a) understand the band’s genre and b) cancel if needed. But “management” decides that during sound check is the right time to make that call??? Pathetic. Shutting down a local band, that has thousands of followers online, with dozens of potential paying customers en route, is an embarrassing way to conduct business. I would give 0 stars but unfortunately that’s not an option.

What a HUGE disappointment to find out at the very last minute that Modern Fuzz was cancelled on Friday night, 9/13/24. Many Fans, friends, families and co-workers were in route and some had already arrived to see an awesome show to be performed by Modern Fuzz at this brewery. This show was booked for months. Modern fuzz was to play from 7pm -9pm, however, management cancelled the band minutes before performing. Modern Fuzz had already setup all of the equipment and had a sound check. (Who cancels a band minutes before performing)!!!!?????? NOT NICE!! Very UNPROFESSIONAL!! A lot of effort, planning and work goes into preparing for a show!!!
This bar lacks the ability to properly book events!
Modern Fuzz is a very talented progressive rock metal band with
2 albums released and a 3rd in the works. Anyone can find their music on Spotify, ITunes, BandCamp, YouTube, etc…. to listen to their music. So….. it should not be a surprise to a beer drinking establishment the genre of music Modern Fuzz plays. Modern Fuzz is an elite technical instrumental band listened to by thousands in the US and around the world.
What a missed revenue opportunity for this brewery. Very poor management decision.
Modern Fuzz has a very loyal Fan base!! Their Fans will never patronize this establishment who is not inclusive.
The patrons and management etc… would have witnessed greatness!!!
Modern Fuzz Fans-Look forward to the next show to be at a welcoming venue!!!!

Really disappointed that the Modern Fuzz show was canceled last minute on Friday. I was looking forward to seeing them and trying a new beer while enjoying their music. The poor communication about the cancellation was frustrating and a letdown. Because of this experience, I don’t plan on coming back in the future.

Absolutely disappointed in the complete lack of professionalism and basic communication skills from this establishment. Modern Fuzz was supposed to perform here Friday night and got canceled last minute for an unacceptable reason. Many people were excited to see Modern Fuzz play, but were left disappointment due to the inability of this brewery to properly schedule weekend entertainment. This was super inconvenient and a big waste of everyone’s time, not to mention completely insulting to a very hardworking band. I don’t recommend coming here if this is how their management handles business.

I was excited to come see Modern Fuzz and visit Monument City Brewing for the first time. I was looking forward to trying the beer! Then their show was canceled last minute - pretty disappointing! I wonder what happened?

Musicians, I do not recommend performing here. Or, at the least, ask the owner/event coordinator what the expectations for the evening are before confirming a show here. My band, after setting up and soundchecking, was told to go home because "there's a genre discrepancy."

For context, I play in a progressive rock and metal band...so I'm not sure why they hired us for the night knowing what our style of music is. We were not told that we were supposed to play background music for the evening.

But the management needs to communicate with performers more clearly and set expectations before more musicians waste hours and hours of hard work. Also, the owner or event coordinator should have taken responsibility for the situation and spoken to us directly. He used the poor sound guy as the middleman.

FWIW, the sound guy and the bar staff all seemed sweet, the venue is quaint and clean, and we were compensated for our time.

Friday night Modern Fuzz was to perform a 2 hr set. We had a party set up to come. The Band was told to leave at sound check.

We were very disappointed when Modern Fuzz was at the last minute canceled last night .This a instrumental group who is dedicated to their genre but are so humble and kind.Their original songs will take you on journey and be mezmorized by the talent you missed.

Best brewery in Baltimore! They’ve generously hosted multiple events for my chorus and are wonderful! The beers are delicious. Kim and Michael are the friendliest bartenders in town. They have sound for live music and food trucks in the parking lot. It’s the perfect place to meet up and have a beer. 10/10 recommend!

Brewery with a wide selection of beers, a couple of hard seltzer and some wine. Keeps their website up to date with events, which is nice. They have food truck nights. I didn't eat the night I went but most of the people around me who got food really enjoyed theirs. Plenty of parking, easy drop off for uber, left or taxi.
