I had the Salt Fish and Rice. It was delicious. Atmosphere is great. Staff are very friendly.
I just hosted my husband’s 40th birthday here and the experience from start to finish was EXCELLENT! Candice was great to work with, designing a buffet menu and a space arrangement that worked with my party theme (murder mystery party for ~35 guests). We had the whole top floor and the vibes were immaculate and they set up the room exactly to my specifications and even made a couple changes on the fly (thank you!). I heard from so many people how great the food was — personally I LOVED the meatballs and the okra. Guests loved the wings, mac n cheese, channa masala, and sausage & rice especially. We had good drinks, friendly service, and an altogether wonderful time. Thanks so much to the Old Major team for making the evening perfect!
The bar food is excellent! And we watched the debate here and the atmosphere was great!!! I really recommend here!!!
- incredible ambience
- extremely friendly and attentive bartenders
- tasty food (highly recommend the plantains, tots with jerk pork, and eggplant stew)
- lots of non-alcoholic drink options
- fun event space; watched a movie upstairs with the Bmore Horror Club
Old Major is a great spot, and the sisters who run the bar are lovely! They have some really fun events held there often, but I'm partial to the improv comedy shows. The food and cocktails are good!
A cute little gem in pigtown
Amazing local bar!! The food was just as amazing as the ambiance and there was a ton of activities to try out with friends. I definitely recommend this place
Old Major is a rare and precious gem. The ladies who run the operation are so gracious and thoughtful! Everyone is made to feel welcome; and appreciated. The food is amazing, and the drink selection is huge! Old Major provides the kind of hospitality that used to be practiced more widely, but now is found only in the most special places. I feel fortunate to have found this amazing night spot!
I've been eyeing this place in Pigtown for what feels like forever. Their limited hours always seemed to clash with my schedule, so imagine my excitement when I saw they were not only open but hosting an improv show! Talk about perfect timing. We rolled up and were immediately charmed by the atmosphere – way bigger than I expected! The improv show was a riot. Sure, there were a couple of clunkers (it's improv, folks!), but the overall energy was hilarious. I'm a big believer that laughter heals, and Pigtown could definitely benefit from a healthy dose of giggles. But here's what really sealed the deal for me – these folks host food giveaways for the unhoused. It's heartwarming to see a business genuinely caring for the community. This spot injects a much-needed dose of fun and compassion into the neighborhood. If you haven't checked it out, do yourself a favor and go get those laughs in!Fyi..They don't except cash.
Great food/drinks plus a great show but the bartenders weren’t the friendliest. My mother loved the older lady but not so much the younger one as she was super rude.

The most adorable local bar in the heart of Pigtown. Candace is always pleasant and accommodating. The drinks are spectacular with a wide variety. They have tons of events and they even support the community. I don’t often have food but if I do the meals are always delicious.
Just discovered this place. Definitely one of the best bars in Baltimore I’ve been to. The sisters that run the place are super-welcoming and make great food/drinks. Highly recommended.
I desperately want to give a bad review because I don’t want everyone to know about this spot. lol. However, I must give props where props are due, this place is a whole vibe. So unassuming from the outside but the atmosphere within is a while vibe. I was there for a Sofar event but arrived early for a bite to eat that didn’t disappoint. The women behind the bar were exceptionally kind and welcoming, with a whole Cheers vibe when some regulars arrived. I’m looking forward to going back soon!
Great atmosphere, food, prices & service! They host a silent book club that’s pretty awesome. Just attended my first of hopefully many tonight! For anyone with germ worries, You view the menu and order through toast on your phone which is super good (post Covid world is no joke). The people who work here are awesome, friendly, and just all around wonderful. A definite must go spot in Baltimore.Ps- ignore all the bad reviews, I’m convinced those people were delusional or maybe just wildly unhappy with their life and trying to drag others down with them. Although the responses to their angry disrespectful rants were chefs kiss entertaining perfection! So give those masterpieces a read, maybe at their next book club!!!
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan options! Ample non alcoholic drink options too!
