We made a reservation at Papi Cuisine/Proper Cuisine on September 20, 2025, and it was a complete disappointment. There was no parking since Papi Cuisine is now operating out of Proper Cuisine, so we had to pay $15 each to park two cars two blocks away.
When we walked in, the host walked away without greeting us—there was no one else around, so it wasn’t like he was busy—and only came back after about two minutes to gather menus. While standing there, a waitress casually said, “FYI, we only have lamb chops and egg rolls.” I asked if that was really it, and she went down the list of everything they were out of—fries, salmon, mac and cheese, crab—basically three-quarters of the menu was gone.
We drove over an hour with a reservation, only to be blindsided. Management missed a huge opportunity, too—there was a Babyface and El DeBarge concert nearby that night that was due to let out soon, a perfect chance to draw a big crowd. Instead, poor planning and lack of communication left patrons frustrated and the restaurant missing out on serious revenue.
This was unprofessional from start to finish—parking chaos, inattentive staff, and a menu that barely exists. If you value your time and money, I’d skip this place until management gets their act together.

When we were seated, we were given warm water with no ice, which was unexpected. Soon after, we were informed that many menu items, including crab cakes, French fries, and other popular options, were unavailable.
Because part of our party was running late, we placed our order ahead of time. However, when the rest of our family arrived and placed their orders, their meals were served before ours. When my entrée finally arrived, I had ordered the jumbo stuffed lobster, but the crab imperial was overcooked, dry, and lacked the flavor I have enjoyed at the other Papi Cuisine location before this new location brought the restaurant. My husband ordered the Ultimate Seafood Pasta, which was served with very little sauce and no crab meat, despite being advertised as including lobster, shrimp, and crab meat.
Although we appreciated the discount offered, the overall experience did not meet our expectations. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but unfortunately, based on this visit, I will not be returning.

Terrible experience from stay to finish. Not sure what happened because I heard good things. 1. I asked for a drink and didn't get it until about 10 minutes before leaving. 2. They only had 2 things on the menu we could order from 3hrs to closing. First the hostess said it was 3 and then 10 minutes later, it was no longer available. 3. They had one server catering to every table. So she couldn't provide a great experienc. She looked overworked, though she was very nice.

My wife and I got this place recommended and we were excited to go. When we arrived it was empty. Not an issue…… the menu isn’t updated. We had to ask is certain things we’re on the menu. The salmon bites and the crab eggrolls were good 7/10 we ordered the jerk lamb chops( tasted nothing but spices overly seasoned) so they replaced is with the ol' bay wings(nasty) and the grill chicken(isn’t in the menu). We ordered the mac and cheese (best thing I had there ) and the sweet potato casserole which came out cold and tasted like fridge. Over all we give this place a 3/10

Wonderful food. The crab cake egg rolls, pasta, and everything were great. The service was confusing and slow. The happy hour deal was confusing and inconsistent, why not say everything under $xx is included? Instead it was piecemeal. Only wines by the glass, not bottle prices. Took our orders and then ran out of some of what we ordered. Moreoner the front door says Shakespeare Company, not the name of the restaurant. Keep the chef and kitchen crew, fix the service staff and clarify the liquor menu.
Go for the food and vibe....hope they fix the service issues.

As a long-time supporter of Papi, I was excited to visit their new location at Proper Cuisine’s sister property. While the atmosphere and service were absolutely top-notch (10/10 for both!), the food didn’t quite meet the high expectations I’ve had over the years.
The Highlights: Atmosphere & Service: Both were fantastic. The space is vibrant and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive, making for a pleasant dining experience overall. The Disappointments:
Jerk Lamb Chops: Unfortunately, the lamb chops were a letdown. The portion size was much smaller than I remember, and the flavor just didn’t hit the mark like it used to. Kale: The kale was overly salty, which overshadowed its potential to be a flavorful side dish
Crab Fries: My husband’s crab fries were missing the “fixings” that were promised on the menu, which was a bit disappointing. While they were still edible, they didn’t have the full flavor profile I was expecting.
The Wins: Honey Brussels Sprouts: On the bright side, the honey Brussels sprouts were on point and exactly what I was hoping for—crispy, sweet, and delicious.
Other Notes: Parking: Parking can be a bit tricky, as it’s limited in the area. There is street parking available, as well as a nearby garage, but be prepared for potentially having to circle a bit for a spot.
While I’ve enjoyed these dishes for many years, today’s experience left me uncertain about returning anytime soon. I’ll likely give it another try, but I hope the kitchen finds its rhythm with these classic favorites.

Secondly, after paying a high bill for sub par food and leaving, the next morning my friend and I wake up to a TEXT message from the owner stating that we sat at a table and skipped out on the bill. We never sat at a table, we were at the bar the entire time and there was 2 of us... Then proceeds to say that if we don't pay by the bill by 12:30 we would be going on the news!? He also sends us video footage of 3 women who he believes we are even though there was only 2 of us and we were never sat at a table. EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED. DO NOT COME HERE. Below, attached will be a receipt that I PAID and the text messages of this non sense. Also if you look closely at the picture, I am sitting at the bar to the right with a white shirt. NEVER AGAIN
