I had a deeply disappointing experience at Proper Cuisine that I feel customers deserve to be aware of.
On August 1, I dined at the restaurant and paid my portion of the bill using my Cash App card. The payment was processed without issue. The next day, without my knowledge or consent, the restaurant charged my card again — this time for the full bill, including the other guest’s portion after their card declined. This is an unauthorized charge, and I’ve already filed a formal dispute with Cash App, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the Maryland Attorney General.
To try to resolve the matter, I went to the restaurant in person. Instead of being met with professionalism, I was yelled at and aggressively confronted by the manager on duty (a tall male with gold teeth). His behavior was so hostile that I felt physically unsafe, and the hostess had to apologize for him afterward. Another staff member, Tamara Clark, was also rude and dismissive — even telling me to “call the police” rather than assisting me as a customer.
This is completely unacceptable, both from a customer service and legal standpoint. I expected a better standard from a well-known establishment. I’m sharing my experience to warn others and hope the owners take accountability and train their staff on how to treat paying guests — and how not to process unauthorized credit card charges.

I needed a little food and relaxing. So I decided to try out Papi Cuisine. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for the longest time, and believe me, it didn't disappoint. The food was so good that it was definitely a must try if you haven't already 💯 Queenhalo_advertising approved great service and atmosphere 👌

I have been a loyal customer of this place since they opened, this review comes with a plethora of bad visits and even pickup orders. I have been charged gratuity on my “Togo” orders. I have been missing items in my “Togo” order. I have tried to call and speak to a manager but to no avail. No one answers the phone. I have also been in person and asked to speak to a manger and to no avail, never able to rectify my dissatisfaction. This place has gone down hill since its establishment. Today, my shot tasted like water and when I asked the waiter they asked me “so what you tryna say” I didn’t ask for anything off my bill or to be comped I simply wanted someone to confirm my suspicion. But of-course no manager. Will not be returning.

I placed a to go order on 6/7/25. Within an hour of consuming the food order( crabcake, kale greens and Mac and cheese), I was in the bathroom with watery stool. I called in the following day to report illness due to consuming the food and was told no manager was available and given the run around regarding an unnamed woman manager working at a second location. I called again and spoke to a Rashad Cobbwgo stated he was a manager. In his ghetto and unprofessional tone, he stated if I did not have a diagnosis from an emergency room doctor of food poison, there is nothing the establishment can do for me. After indicating a report would be filed with the Health Dept and BBB, this man proceeded to hang up on me.

The food, service & vibe were excellent!😍I got the stuff salmon, mac n cheese & creamed spinach. For appetizers we got the crab egg roll & honey wings. We also got the pork chops & crab cake. Would highly recommend.

I found the experience quite underwhelming, and there’s definitely room for improvement with the menu selections. Most of the dishes seemed heavily reliant on honey, and not just honey—extremely sweet honey. For example, the wings were so sticky they were practically glued to the plate. The salmon and mashed potatoes were drenched in honey, completely overpowering the flavors of the crab and fish. The stuffed lobster was disappointingly dry and could’ve benefited from some melted butter, while the egg rolls were tiny with only a faint hint of crab flavor.
As for the service, it was just okay. The staff seemed to be doing their best, but there was no one at the hostess stand when I arrived, which led to some initial confusion about where to go or whom to speak to. Eventually, someone noticed me, but it wasn’t the most welcoming start. Our reserved table was positioned near the kitchen and a high-traffic area, which wasn’t ideal, especially with what seemed like a large gathering happening nearby.
Overall, I wouldn’t come back, but I truly hope they take these recommendations to heart and improve both the food and the guest experience.

Upon entering there was no host at the stand, so we had to kind of search for the employee. Our table was right next to the kitchen where there were a lot of table bussers Kee keeing. Our server had no personality, it was like the people at our table was serving personality for the server. The server never double backed to check on us, we had to catch her between tables. I ordered salmon, Mac and cheese, and fries which costs $30.00. The salmon was very at home basic, the Mac and cheese tasted like ham for some odd reason, and the fries tasted overcooked. I gave this restaurant 3 stars because it’s black owned, but I will neverrrrr return unless this place does a complete 360. Also they automatically charge you a tip, that was never even deserved. The Hennessy punch was strong though lol and my appetizer a cut up crab egg roll was actually decent.

The food is good and super delicious but the atmosphere is ghetto in my opinion wouldn't consider it even close to fine dining or a nice dinner lol. More hip for sure. In general I enjoyed the food, the mac is bomb, the mai tide is sweet and delicious and not strong(which was perfect for me), and the eggs rolls are very good as well.
