This place is a complete rip off. I went here today about an hour ago. As soon as I pulled up, I rang the doorbell to be answered by the owner who was DISGUSTINGLY RUDE off first instinct. I get to the register and stated that I would like steak and grits. She specifically asked me what kind of steak because she had two kinds on her menu as she handed the menu. I still didn’t see the types of steaks that she was referring to so she proceeds the say “ I have a T-bone steak witches $25 and I have another steak didn’t specify the cut which was $8” and originally I had came in there for the T-bone steak and egg platter but as soon as I got to the dorm was greeted by her nasty attitude. I knew that I wasn’t going to be spending that much money in this establishment. So I said OK give me the eight dollar steak and grits. She rings me up, and I forgot to mention that I wanted to add a drink so she rang the drink up separately which wasn’t an issue. The bottle of Ginger Ale costed $3 and some change. After that, she told me to have a seat and wait for my food so about 10 minutes past and I get my food and she asked how did I hear about her restaurant and I politely explain to her that it was funny that she asked that because my mother went to College with her son Robert and so on. Her demeanor completely changed after that moral of the story is I will not be back here. This is my first time coming here, but this is my first time feeling like my money was wasted after I returned back to my car and tasted the grits, they were super runny, not sweet even though I did ask her to sweeten them and she stated to me that I could put my own sweetener in them NOT stating that she wouldn’t give me sugar in the bag. ALSO the “Steak” was basically just overly SALTY STEAKUM STEAK. This lady is rude and disgusting and I don’t care how good her food is this place gets zero stars because of her customer service if you ask me. I will be notifying my family not to support this place anymore. This is unfortunate.

Had a great experience at this restaurant. This is my second time visiting from Detroit and I love the food. Small family owned diner with really great quality food. The owner is the cook! Highly recommend the seafood omelette and the home style potatoes!

I wanted to love it. We all know local mom-and-pop shops usually have the best tasting food for cheap so I came hungry after a 2 hour walk.
I spent over $16 on 3 overly oily and sugary pancakes, sausage, and small, ultra-sugared half and half. It tasted like I was eating and drinking a pound of sugar crystals mixed with 2 sticks of butter. I could only get through one pancake before throwing everything away. Hypertension, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, and diabetes aren’t cute anymore in 2025. It’s okay to pull back a bit.
The guy at the counter was surly and seemed like he didn’t want to be bothered, but he did check on me. I would hope so after he asked me whether I wanted to add a tip (for overpriced food that no one served me).
The tons of flies inside the seated area and swarming the outside tables added a nice, charming touch.

Tried this place after hearing good things from neighbors. I can’t say I have enjoyed the food. I get this is a simple place, no Ac on a hot day, I get it, but for the very up to par price with other brunch places in the area, a little comfort would be nice, aka, real silverware to cut chicken with. Bacon was overcooked, the home fries were very undercooked. The waffle was def good. Nothing to say on customer service, but the food was disappointing.

I really don't want to let this out because once people realize that they've been overlooking this gem..... you'll kick yourself! The truth is...I want all of the business to go to this Black Female-Owned business. A little music would kick up the atmosphere!

Today was my first time going to Simply Marie’s, but I have to say that I felt the service was exceptional and the food was extremely delicious. I wasn’t expecting a carry out feel but despite it being a quant place the tables were clean and my family and I sat down and enjoyed our meal, we will be back. I love that the staff asked if everything was good to give an opportunity for feedback.
