My husband and I were in on a busy Friday night the weekend of the Army Navy game. We were seated on time and then quickly offered an even better table within minutes (which we gladly accepted). The atmosphere was jovial and it was obvious to us that this place was a local favorite as everyone spoke to Monica, including us. She explained that her husband started the business 30 years ago and that now she and her daughters help out on busy weekends. We loved the lobster ravioli and the gelato for dessert. Our cocktails and wine were also great. We definitely recommend and will be returning if we’re ever back in Baltimore.
After asking for recommendations for great Italian food, our daughter suggested Sotto Sopra. She believes they offer some of the best Italian food available in Baltimore. Due to traffic issues on 95 we had to call the restaurant to push back our reservation and I was very pleased with how the restaurant was able to accommodate our needs on a busy Saturday night. We entered with high expectations and we were not let down. The menu offered many dishes you don't see on typical Italian menus. From the craft cocktails to the beet and burrata appetizers, squid ink pasta with crawfish, crab meat and mushrooms and Gnocchi Bolognese entrees and Bread Pudding and Gelato dessert each course was delightful. This is a great place for a date or celebration or just for great food!
Thanksgiving night here has become our tradition. The meal was superb and the service delightful. Homemade pasta, delicious lamb chops and outstanding carbonara. Fabulous!
Food was delicious, except for the stuffing, which was extremely salty. Service was impeccable, ambience and decor were lovely. The owner and his wife visited our table and were delightful.
Everything was good until I had to retrieve my car. The valet service was abysmal. I finally walked to the garage myself along with several other patrons to retrieve the car because the valet service only had one poor boy handling the whole thing. we almost missed our show at the hippodrome. a sorry end to otherwise good evening at the restaurant.
Lovely experience to be welcomed to the neighborhood. Derrick, Monica, Ricardo were lovely
Was expecting a real authentic Italian experience. The ambience and the appetizer (parmigiano reggiano plate) was on point, but the rest of the meal was severely lacking. The server was inauthentic. The gin and tonic was $15!!! I expected about $10, but $15 is absurd. The gnocchi I ordered were so overcooked they were basically mush. The meal was disappointing, the server was not what I expected, and the entire experience was over priced. I’m willing to pay for some good authentic food, but sadly this was NOT it. I had really high hopes for this place too.

First time dining at Sotto Sopra, but I hope not the last. Cozy (but not cramped), excellent and very polite staff, clean dining area and restrooms, and delicious food. Highly recommend, especially for a date night or celebration.
Our waiter was excellent- knew the food and wine well. We ate off the special menu and everything was really good. Also the food I to were different than one would normally be offered
Last night we had terrible service because the restaurant was overwhelmed. Our sever did his very best, but he explained that they had a surprise arrival of 30some people. But the restaurant was still not full.
They had only two servers. No bread; had to pour our own wine; had to wait for everything.
This is not an issue of the otherwise-superb server. It is management not assuring that they can function as a customer might expect.
Great food; great atmosphere. But not where you want to spend a special occasion—too risky.

Overall, the experience was amazing! We received a warm welcome as soon as we arrived, and the food was delicious.
We tried the Honey Lavender Salmon as our main dish it was flavorful and perfectly cooked. My favorite was the pumpkin soup. I used to have it often during my trips to Europe, and I was so happy to find a similar taste here.
For dessert, we tried the pistachio cheesecake. The base was a bit too sweet for our taste, so we didn’t enjoy it as much as I’d hoped.
You won’t regret coming!

Sotto Sopra is always busy becasue it is always fantastic! It was packed on Monday night, but despite that, Angelo made sure we were well taken care of. His attention to detail is incredible, and his service amazing. Request him when you go!
Amazing food and perfect atmosphere. Staff this evening seemed a bit frazzled and rushed, but not normally the case. Overall amazing, can't wait to go back.
What a wonderful restaurant. Everyone - the hostess, waitstaff, bartender and owner were welcoming and informative. The food was more than delicious - beyond excellent. I definitely recommend Sotto Sopra for a special evening of fine dining.
Excellent dining experience, from the ambiance and service, to the delicious wine and even better food. A true Italian gem that I will be frequenting more now that I know it exists!
