I had an incredible dining experience at Sotto Sopra in Baltimore! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a beautiful, cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We started with the calamari, and it was easily some of the best I’ve ever had perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right seasoning and dipping sauce to complement it. For the main course, I ordered the seafood risotto, and it was nothing short of amazing. The rice was cooked to perfection, creamy and flavorful, and the seafood was fresh, generously portioned, and beautifully balanced throughout the dish. Every bite was rich and satisfying. What truly made the experience unforgettable, though, was the outstanding service from Jose. He was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations. His warm personality and genuine care made our night feel extra special. Sotto Sopra is a must-visit if you're in Baltimore and craving authentic Italian cuisine with exceptional service. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

While visiting Baltimore for a graduation, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Sotto Sopra—and what an unforgettable evening it was.

We made a reservation (a wise move!), and by the time we left, the place was buzzing with guests and a line out the door. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. Riccardo, the owner, personally greeted us at the door and led us to our table. His warmth and presence throughout the evening reminded me of my grandfather, who was also a restaurateur—approachable, attentive, and deeply invested in every aspect of the experience.

Our server was equally gracious and attentive, immediately acknowledging our anniversary and surprising us with two glasses of champagne along with a delicious bread service. The champagne was such a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the rest of the evening.

We started with the fried calamari, which came with crispy veggies and two dipping sauces—spicy marinara and garlic aioli. Every bite was crisp and packed with flavor.

For our entrées, we had the shortrib ravioli and the carbonara. Both were delicious! The menu was so tempting we almost couldn’t choose!

As a final treat, our server brought us a small but exquisite bite of graham-crusted vanilla gelato with strawberry to mark the occasion. It was the perfect sweet ending to a truly special meal.

Every detail, from the service to the food to the ambiance, reflects Riccardo’s passion and heart. We left feeling full, grateful, and already planning our next visit. When we’re back in Baltimore, Sotto Sopra will absolutely be on our list again.

Awesome spot! Beautiful restaurant. Great service. Excellent food.

Had a tough week and this was the fix! The bartender, Jose, was great and made some excellent recommendations. I ended up going with the carpaccio and rack of lamb. Definitely some of the best lamb I’ve had; cooked perfectly (mid-rare). Pasta tasted homemade.

I’ll make it a point to go back when I visit Baltimore.

This is one of the best of Baltimore's fine dining restaurants. It has been in business for a long time and is at a key location on N Charles St just south of the George Washington Monument. Every meal here has been outstanding and this was no exception. I ordered bronzino served with asparagus and it was delicious, perfectly prepared.

This restaurant is so intimate and cozy. The lighting and decor created a special ambiance. The handmade pasta was incredible and I was especially lucky to try their special Pasta Toscana with a peach belini!

Sotto Sopra has quickly become my favorite Italian restaurant. The food is marvelous as is the atmosphere and service👌🏻. I especially adore the Polenta Fritta Bergamot appetizer, the Pumpkin Pasta entrée, and the Pistachio Tiramisu dessert. The ambiance and decor are perfection. I can’t wait to come back for dinner on an opera night! We are lucky to have such an all-around exquisite restaurant in Baltimore. Grazie mille, Sotto Sopra! 🇮🇹🍝

We had our anniversary dinner here and I wouldn't change a single thing about it. Truly a night to remember. The food and service were both unmatched. Frutti de Mare is my favorite food and this is some of the best I've had, and I've tried it all over the US. They let the wonderful pastas shine as brightly as their sauces. So fresh and delicious. I would drink it if I could lol. My partner got the seasonal special Pumpkin Pasta and it was also delightful. Our server was so sweet and gave us a scoop of strawberry gelato with a sparkler to celebrate when we ordered our dessert, both of which were such treats.

Parking: There are multiple parking garages in the area with fair pricing for the area.

Went here for my mom’s 55th birthday last weekend, and we loved it. From the drinks to the food and service, I was pleasantly surprised. I got the fettuccine Alfredo as my main dish and am still thinking about it to this day! 10/10

First time going to Sotto Sopra tonight 10/10. I had the Branzino Special and Panna Cotta Dessert. Both were delicious. It paired well with the Sauvignon Blanc. The service was great as well. I will definitely come back to try other dishes ?

The food was good. It was properly portioned. The service was good. It is a little crowded feeling because tables are too close together and pretty noisy because of the proximity to others. Definitely not a place you should go to for a private dining experience.

We went there to celebrate my birthday. Restaurant was filled so pretty noisy but it didn't interfere with our enjoyment. The food was delicious. Presentation unusual and interesting. Portions just the right size. Not too large as most are usually in Italian restaurants. They knew it was my birthday and brought me a dish of strawberry gelato with a sparkler on it. Service was excellent also.

This was not our first visit to Sotto Sopra, and like our past visits it did not disappoint! We shared the burrata caprese salad, it was delicious. I had the Caccio e Pepe that was a chefs special. It was Devine. My husband had the halibut, he really enjoyed it. For dessert we had our usual, a chocolate lava cake and the mascarpone cheesecake-fabulous as usual. The service is always above and beyond. Cannot wait for our next visit.
