Great customer service and great customer engagement. The store manager does a great job, Mr. Leo.
I’ve been a loyal customer at the Starbucks located at 1812 Ashland Ave (Store #47806) for nearly four years. My emotional support dog and I stop by almost every day—or at least every other day—for a fresh cup of coffee and a pup cup as part of our morning walk. Despite the many staff changes over the years, I’ve always received excellent service and a warm welcome from the team.
That is, until November 13, 2025.
On that morning, I encountered two new employees who I believe may have been temporary staff from another location. One of them, a middle-aged white woman whose name appeared to be Dulaney (though I didn’t get a clear look at her name badge), approached me and asked if my dog was a service animal. Caught off guard, I replied, “No, why?”—assuming she was going to compliment my dog, as many customers do. Instead, she said, “I asked because dogs aren’t allowed in the café.”
I was surprised by her tone and the comment, as I’ve visited this location almost daily for years without any issue. I asked if there was a new policy I wasn’t aware of. I then told her, “If my dog isn’t welcome, then I’m not welcome.” When I asked to speak with the manager, she simply pointed in his direction. I’m familiar with the manager, and he was assisting another customer at the time. I chose not to cause a scene, so I quietly stepped aside to avoid disrupting others.
At the same time, two of the regular baristas—who know me and my dog well—brought over pup cups for him, as they normally do. They weren’t aware that each had already made one, so my dog ended up with two! This small but familiar gesture highlights the kindness and consistency I’ve come to appreciate from this store’s regular team.
What made the interaction even more upsetting was that, during this exchange, a white couple was sitting in the café with their dog lying on a dog bed—clearly not a service animal. When my dog and I first entered, their dog barked at mine and appeared aggressive, yet the same employee said nothing to them. Other customers who recognized me and my dog even pointed this out, surprised that the employee approached only me. One person commented, “There’s another dog over there on a bed—why isn’t she saying anything to them?”
I try to remain respectful and avoid making assumptions, but this experience felt discriminatory. I can’t help but feel that my dog and I were unfairly singled out.
I want to be clear that this experience does not reflect the overall quality of this store or its regular employees, who have always been outstanding. My concern lies specifically with this new employee, whom I had never seen before that day.

The staff doesn’t know how to make matcha or I did something to them because they make my match EXTREMELY milky everyday…. If I wanted a lot of milk I’d get coffee. When I insist on extra matcha they disregard.

Absolutely ridiculous. I come to this Starbucks all the time, spend my money here regularly, and today I was told I couldn’t use the restroom unless I bought something right then and there. I’ve already made plenty of purchases at this location, and to be treated like that is insulting. This policy is disgusting, and the lack of basic decency from the staff was beyond disappointing. I’m furious and I will NEVER come back to this store again.

I went to two separate locations that were inside of grocery stores because there are no storefronts nearby my home. There is usually nobody or one barrister. The expression machine was down in one location and the other location had nobody on duty. I’ll have to wait to go downtown Baltimore, or into the county White Marsh or Owings Mills perhaps. Until then I will brew mushroom coffee at home and save some money.

This location used to run well but lately, in the last 6 months or so, it's been going downhill. Always out of several options for drinks and food, the staff behaves as if they are lost and confused, and they regularly mess up on drink orders. Don't expect to pick up your mobile order within a typical timeframe. It'll take 15-20 minutes when the floor is almost devoid of customers. There's absolutely no sense of efficiency at this location. Disappointing.

This incident happened October 5th, 2025/1:00 pm EST( approximately the time ). THE staff who was working there at this time is who I’m talking about.
If I can give a zero for this place I would. I don’t know who’s hiring who, but the staff sucks. This is second time coming here where the staff is unpleasant and do not speak.
Again, my mom and I walked in together and the white young lady spoke to us while she was handling something else. We greeted her and started to look at the cups. My mom was standing by the register for about 5 min and still the other staff members didn’t greet or even acknowledge us other than the white young lady.
The two black staff members is who I’m making this complaint about. My mom after almost a couple more minutes, finally said that she would like to order. The black guy working rolled his eyes at my mom, I saw him and the black girl working paused and turned around and said give her a min. I felt uncomfortable and I told my mom we are leaving because the black staff that was working are so rude. We never ordered anything either due to them.
After that I told my mom I’m not coming back. Unfortunately the attitudes that we experience here is forcing me to make this decision. I’m done!

Great Starbucks with lots of space! All the new Starbucks are so tiny. This one still has plenty of room like in the old days. Friendly customer service and they make my iced Americano just right.

I’ve been a resident of Baltimore for half a year, and this is the nearest Starbucks. There are few things that I noticed about this location is quite concerning. For example there’s more than one time I used their bathroom, and found no hand-soap in their restrooms. Makes me question how wash their hands. A few times I observed they did not open in the mornings. Some people’s work ethic is questionable,… that being said my favorite barista whom I am happy to see is Josea. Josea makes my matcha tea the best ,… your hardwork is appreciated.

I've been coming to this Starbucks for over a year now! Even though there's one closer to me, I prefer the Ashland Ave location because of the excellent customer service from Manager Leo and his team. But last week, I came in for a drink and some pastries, and I noticed the usual team members who greet me weren't around. The new employee was rude, as well as the new manager. When I asked for the restroom code, they acted like they didn’t want to give it to me. I work in the area and spend a lot of money at Starbucks, so this was really disappointing.
Then today, I came in for a Frappuccino and a cup of ice water, and the new employee told me that the water wasn’t free. I said no problem and that I’d pay for it, but she rolled her eyes and sucked her teeth at me. I get that prices are going up, and I understand we have to pay for cups now, but it’s all about how you speak to your customers. The new manager was rude as well, walking around with an afro and a pick comb in her hair.
This really needs to be addressed ASAP, or you might lose some loyal customers. I’d rather walk a few blocks to the Starbucks in the outpatient building at the hospital.
