Came inside Cross Street Market for a bite. It was between Steve's or Chicken Lab. My fiancée convinced me to go with Steve's since they're usually closed when we're here. It did not disappoint. This might be my third time here. I usually get the cheesesteak lunch special that comes with a drink and fries ($13). I'm glad they were busy because the staff appears hard working and the food here is very good. The cheesesteak roll was soft and chewy, and the oils and grease did not seep through. I got onions and provolone and as you can see from the photos, the sandwich was hot and fresh, with a nice stretch from the cheese. The fries had a nice color, crispy on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside. This meal hit the spot. There is plenty of seating inside CSM. Come to Steve's for a great satisfying meal at a reasonable price.

No fuss, no frills, just an older man and his griddle cooktop. You get your order in and you leave in an exchange of few words.Steve's Lunch is far from glamorous, but it is fast, and when you just wanna walk down the street with burger and fries in hand before you get back to your shift, Steve's has your back with some of the thickest kaiser rolls I've seen. It actually works great, since all of the mess you'd get with a weaker bun is contained by the roll; this is, in a word, perfect stroll snacking. It's the cheapest food in the entire Cross Street Market, too, which is probably its niche. I can't hate it, but I wish the fries were seasoned a bit more evenly. At least I got my money's worth from one of the few mom and pop-style places left in the downtown area.

I stopped here for lunch this week as the cafe I had intended to go to had sold out of pretty much everything. ( it was later in the afternoon). I stumbles across Steves Lunch, located in an indoor market / food court which contained a selection of various eating options I just wanted a light bite and so I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, which was OK. It was nicely toasted and crispy but the bread was simply sliced bread (from a loaf in a bag). Very basic, nothing special and probably not the best value. They took my card for payment, gave me the card back and told me to wait for my order. Then a few minutes later they asked for cash. I asked if my card payment had gone through and they said " no". They hadn't told me this at the time...wasn't sure why there was a delay in telling me this. Service was OK. They didn't seem particularly happy or friendly. Just doing their job. I would recommend it if you want something basic and quick but I wouldn't return.

It's meh. The set up, service, and food are just meh. The prices aren't that crazy considering the food is less than average. The hamburger was dry and seemed like it had died in a freezer months ago. There was a decent attempt made on the sausage egg and cheese on wheat. I could have just gone over to the crepe woman and had something fire. It's nothing to write home about but will keep you from starvation.

The food is great, their hotdogs are fresh and their lemonade is amazing, the staff are super nice, and the prices are so affordable, I got two hotdogs one fish fillet a box of fries and two small lemonades, and it was all under $25! And the two small lemonades can have one free refill each.

My favorite breakfast sandwichand hangover cure is the ham andegg on kaiser roll with mayo, lettuceand tomato. Long nights in the JHUand St. Agnes hospitals were alwaystolerated by looking forward to thisquick $5 remedy. Best value in Federal Hill Charm City.

Their service is fast, and their turkey club sandwich on whole wheat toast is delicious.

My wife and I ordered two hamburgers. The meat was of the gray school cafteria/prison variety and dry as a bone. I stopped eating after a couple of bites. The fries were fine and the woman who took our order was nice. Still, I will never eat there again. What a shame.

Steve's Lunch has been a staple of this community since 1964. People move away & still make it a point to come back to the neighborhood just to come to Steve's
