So last night, I stopped into this cocktail bar called Sugarvale on Madison Street. The place is small but cute — cozy, stylish, the kind of spot that makes you feel like you’re cooler than you really are just by being there. The prices? Way more reasonable than I expected. The cocktails? Chef’s kiss — flavorful, balanced, and definitely crafted by someone who knows their bitters from their simple syrup.
But then… there was Heather.
Now, I’m not saying Heather was actually chewing on Sour Patch Kids, but based on the sourness of her attitude, I wouldn’t be surprised if she had a whole economy-sized bag stashed behind the bar. She served sass with a twist of lemon — and not the good kind that comes in your drink.
To the owner: might I suggest supplying Heather with a candy that better reflects the sweet vibe of your establishment? Perhaps a few See’s Candies Milk Chocolate Truffles — rich, smooth, and incapable of side-eyeing a paying customer. Or even a good old Snickers — because clearly, she’s not herself when she’s hungry.
Despite the sour service, I’d still go back. Sugarvale’s drinks make up for a lot… but next time, I hope Heather’s rocking more sugar and less spice.

By far my favorite bar in the city! I've come here for years and it's still my go-to spot in the city. The best drinks for affordable price! The best bar food. And the atmosphere is beyond beautiful. It is a lowkey chill local spot, and I still come out of my way to visit. Best bar staff also! I also get the Bees Knees and some wings, and I am always sure to get my Damn Good Pie to go.

I came for a night out by myself yesterday. The place is a little small but quite cozy! They’ve got an array of great cocktails and everything is very reasonably priced. I’ll definitely be back.

I don’t drink alcohol but still had a great time here. The bartenders were so nice and attentive. I went with a friend who also doesn’t drink and has a lot of food allergies (including citrus), but they were still able to come up with a delicious mocktail for her. Great vibes all around. I will definitely be back.

First time here. Nice little basement bar tucked away by the Washington monument in Mt Vernon. Kitchen was closed so I couldn't try the food, but overall nice place. The bartender (Britt, i think) provides great service. Will come again.

I love finding cool cocktail bars I've never encountered before. Sugarvale is a basement bar right near Baltimore's Washington Monument in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood. The cocktails weren't good they were excellent ?! Great vibe and super cool bartenders. Strongly recommend!
It’s my new fav spot in Mount Vernon. She’s a hidden gem in plane site! Brit the bartender is bright and bubbly. She does tricks at the bar. We love her. Seat yourself, grab a menu, then order at the bar. Smash burger is my favorite.

Honestly, their happy hour is mine and my wife's favorite Baltimore. Drinks are great. Food is excellent. They're always playing cool music and the bar tenders are super chill. Would give it a 6/5 if I could.
