For years, my partner and I talked about returning to Tagliata after a magical Valentine's Day there four years ago. That first meal was unforgettable--every bite was explosive, portions were generous, and even the pacing felt intentional. We left completely swept away. This Valentine's Day, we returned hoping to relive that magic. Instead, we left deeply disappointed. The 4-course prix fixe was $390--expected for a holiday--but the quality didn't justify it.
Drinks were consistently misrepresented. The Litchi Bolla (3/5) barely tasted like lychee despite being described as sweet and lychee-forward. The Marriage of Figaro mocktail (1/5) was essentially an Old Fashioned without alcohol. The Tre Cetre replacement (3/5) tasted like Sprite with mint--nothing like its description. This disconnect became a theme all night.
Food was inconsistent. Steak Tartare (4/5) was bold and excellent. Chilled Shrimp (1/5), recommended over the salad, was four shrimp with sparse garnish and almost no sauce--shockingly underwhelming. Squid Ink Campanelle (3/5) was solid but smaller than before. Nori Risotto (2/5) looked like grey porridge with unevenly cooked rice. Chicken Parm (3/5) was average. The Australian Wagyu Strip (1/5)--the dish we were most excited for--was a beautiful steak inside of a salt brick with a matching salt lake as presentation and nearly inedible. The character limit is honestly saving them from my brutal food review right now.
Desserts redeemed the night slightly: Tiramisu (4/5) was good, and the Crème Caramel (5/5) was exceptional--rich, balanced, and beautifully textured.
Service was the most disappointing part. Descriptions were inconsistent and lacked the knowledge we experienced years ago. We didn't receive bread and Parmigiano Reggiano until asking three times--and it arrived during our second course--while nearby tables were served immediately and even received refills before we got our first basket. We also watched other couples receive a red rose before leaving--we did not. On Valentine's Day, small details matter.
With automatic 20% gratuity, consistency should be guaranteed. On our first visit, we happily tipped 25% without being forced. Automatic gratuity removes the guest's ability to reflect the experience honestly--and if it's required, the experience should match it. Sadly, the magic that once defined this restaurant is gone for us.

Finally tried this restaurant and loved it. The food is delicious from the shared bread on the table to the entree, wine selection, and dessert. The lobster fra diavala is SO good. Someone in the restaurant told me the squid ink campanelle is better than the dish I had and I cannot see how. The noodles, sauce, and lobster were amazing. The noodles were perfect. Lobster was plentiful. I would get this dish anytime (although I will still try the squid ink dish for comparison).
The service was great and consistent. I appreciate the team style of waiting on the tables. It meant we never had to wait long for anything. Both guys were excellent.

The food was absolutely amazing & a great atmosphere!!! Want to come back when it is warmer to sit outside. No notes!!!
Prices were high for quality of food. My tenderloin was a bit overcooked but there was so much salt I could not finish or even taste the meat very well. Service was excellent. Coffee was good desert was ok. My wife's pasta dish was also too salty and too dense.
Amazing cuisine! If you're looking for a burst of flavor and unique dishes, this is the place to go!

Great atmosphere and setting, quick and nice service and good food. There are plenty of vegetarian options too and is a very romantic spot. Heaters outside make sitting out pleasant too. Definitely recommend this place in the heart of Baltimore.
