Saw a few of the reviews so walked the 15 minutes to try something off the beaten track. I was the only patron at a table to start, few at the bar. Got a beer which was promptly served by the bar tender. Another of the wait staff brought out bread. Ordered appetizers. After no one came to my table for 30 minutes and the table who sat 10 minutes after me received their food I asked that server where my food was. After returning from the back he asked if anyone had taken my order. I informed him yes and identified the server he went to the back and returned to ask if I could re-state my order ( which had obviously not been put in).Hope this was just an issue with this server (did she leave mid-shift?)Sad as the place is really a cool spot. I can’t really rate the food as I never received any, but with the exception of the bartender would have to give a zero for service. Hope there is some education done, I had actually wanted to go through the menu to create a tasting experience, looked enticing.

Well-timed, well-presented & elegant place w/ amazing creations to suit any palate in downtown Baltimore. Park in the nearby multi-level garage for dinner, as the host will validate for half of the parking fee, as we later found out from our guests hosting the dinner. Being from Hawai'i, I opted for the tuna tower appetizer, which is much like our Hawaiian Poki, although served w/ an Alexander Brown flair. Very, very tasty, beautifully presented & memorable. Our server, Jason (really tall, handsome guy w/ Old World style manners & quiet humor) performed his service extremely attentively & very much understatedly.

Been to many lunches and dinners at this establishment. Food and service have always been excellent.I would highly recommend it.

Wonderful experience! Highlights were ambience, service (great job Christopher!), craft cocktails, crab beignets (more like tempura mini crab cakes but delicious), Brussels sprouts, ribeye & scallops. Smith Island cake was good but not great - very glad it was comped after our first choice dessert was not available. Overall not so much fit for foodies as high quality food, a great cocktail program and good wine by the glass list - reasonably priced for the experience - in an awe-inspiring venue.

The food is excellent, particularly the arugula salad and the ribeye steak. The service was excellent, having set a last minute reservation for 10, we were easily accommodated in a private room. The old world decor is very inviting with high ceilings, tall windows, fireplace settings and marble surfaces. located in downtown it's near all the attractions of a modern downtown area. prices are high, but far better than we're expected them to be, an excellent value for this type of dining experience. I definately recommend the ribeye and arugula salad. we only had two issues. Two ribeyes were switched and we only noticed once we cut into and began to eat our steaks to reveal the difference in preparation. We both enjoyed them still and raised no concern with the staff. The second was a pricing discrepancy that was cleared up once I caught it and pointed it out to the management.

My boyfriend and I ate dinner here last night before seeing a play at Chesapeake Shakespeare. The food was amazing. We both had skirt steak for our entree and we shared mini tacos for an appetizer. Both were amazing. We wish we had time for dessert because all the choices sounded amazing. We will definitely be back!

Alex brown is a good and upscale restaurant. The menu is very limited, but enough to choose from. The service is good, but spotty at times. This is a good place for a special occasion. And there is free valet parking which is needed.

A restaurant in a beautiful historical building on Baltimore Street. I hosted a retirement lunch here. The staff was available, friendly, and took care of every detail. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. I highly reccomend.

This stunning fine-dining restaurant was certainly worth the visit. Great ambiance, terrific selections of the meals and outstanding service. I tried their lunch menu which is packed a great selection of starters and sandwiches. We started with the crab beignet, which was quite good, the pastry did not overpower the crab at all, it was just right. My dining partner tried the Fall Vegetable Salad with Salmon and I tried the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The ingredients were fresh and delicious.

Came for my mother in laws 80th birthday. The good news is she had a wonderful time. The bad news is the rest of us were very disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The interiors are rich and stately. Really amazingly done with incredibly high ceilings. The issue was really the service. I think we waited over an hour to get our entrees after our appetizers. When the entrees finally came they were tepid. Our waitress never explained to anyone that we should have ordered sides. Fine for the adults but our children expect more than just a piece of flank steak. The menu didn’t make it clear either. The food itself was quite tasty but would have been nice if it was more than tepid. Overall very unimpressed particularly given the cost.

A very lovely dinner with my wife and a beautiful atmosphere. Our waitress was attentive and our service was quick. No complaints.
