Is the Baltimore city location permanently closed?? Went this morning at 8 and it was all locked and didn’t look like it was set up inside at all to have customers….we had a very disappointed 3YO on our hands 😭
Went for breakfast. The corned beef hash was very bitter and the potato pancakes were burnt to a crisp. The pancakes were flavorless apart from a baking soda taste. They were nice enough to take the hash off our bill but would not return.

I was so pressed to go here because I love pancakes, but the pancakes had a really nasty after taste to them, That completely turned me off! And it was a piece of hair on my plate that I quietly removed with a napkin to not cause a disturbance. So I really looked out, so needless to say I won’t be going back. The bacon and potatoes was good though and my husband’s omelette.

I will no longer be ordering from this location. Three times I’ve ordered for myself, coworkers and kids. The last time even my supervisor complained about the food. The pancakes seemed like they were microwaved with the strawberries and other contents soggy and rotten. I’ve spent well over $62 per order and all of my food was BAD. The reason for those who ask why keep ordering? Well thought they might have had a bad day because the first time I ordered everything was fine. The remaining orders my food was old, microwaved and rotten. I spent all that money for something I could have made myself. It’s unfortunate, and when you call the restaurant they don’t even apologize or say what can we do to fix it. The OPH in Yonkers New York was the epitome of how the food should have looked and tasted. As far as Baltimore, I will never order again.
Compared to other Original Pancake Houses, this one is average at best. Even when not busy, they say 45 minutes for Dutch Babies and Apple pancake and it took at least that long. They also don't come around for coffee refills like all the other Original Pancake Houses we've been at. Again, if they had actually been busy, this might have been understandable but this was lunchtime and there were maybe 5 other tables occupied and many of those were actually finishing up their meals when we arrived. One of them waited for their check forever which had to be frustrating because it was one adult with a squirming toddler who wanted to run and a baby.
Food was good
My family love their 49’rs pancake… I thought I’d try the Dutch baby. It was a little disappointing, it was very thick!
I like them the way every other “original pancake” place makes them, thinner. I still ate them, half, the thickness filled quick. Please, the décor was very blah 😕. Bacon & 49’rs & coffee were great. And the servers were great!
Good food, enjoyable experience

Our favorite are the 49er flapjacks. We've been to a number of OPHs and this one is the least consistent with the recipes. For example, their Dutch baby pancake is much egg-ier than they should be, the 49ers are smaller than other locations. Still love to go, tho.

Visiting Baltimore and decided to try a different breakfast spot. The food was good and our waitress was really nice. But the hostess and tipping situation was odd. She told us there would be a wait but I could barely hear her. Plus she handed us an iPad that WE had to fill out the wait list information for? What’s the point of her job then? Just put an iPad on a stand up there if that’s the case and save on payroll.
When our food did come we had to ask separately for silverware. (They did not have any so we got plastic wear.) Food was good, pancakes very good!
Lastly, there was just two of us. And got basic meals. However, there was AUTOMATIC gratuity?? I could understand for a large party. But yea, automatic 18% tip was added to our bill. And then the audacity for an “additional tip” line. That is crazy. We had already planned to tip since our waitress was nice. But when it’s ”automatic” and already added to our bill before we can even see it is wild haha.
We probably won’t be back because of this and will continue our breakfast tradition at Blue Moon 2.
Parking: There is a small parking lot. But for a lot of businesses so finding a parking spot can be difficult.
