I went to Red Boat all the time back when they had a place in College Park–was happy to see they're still in Baltimore when leaving an Orioles game!
The Lemongrass Pork Bahn Mi was even more delicious than I remembered. Packed with plenty of flavorful grilled meat and a good ratio of pickled vegetables.
I also ordered a smoothie which was okay. It's the kind that feels more like an slurpee from 7-Eleven (ok better than that, but icy texture). I think I'll stick with tea next time.
Red Boat is a solid spot to grab a quick bite to eat. While I wouldn't say it's top-tier, the quality you get for the price is pretty amazing!

There is a guy who works there and only wears one sanitary glove. He also mops and cleans the restaurant—he’s a jack of all trades. However, he does not wash his hands at all. Order your food and just observe—it's far from clean. He will touch your food with both hands.
Yes, it may look like a nice restaurant, but if you watch how they operate, you'll think twice before eating there. Everyone else wears gloves on both hands, but this guy refuses to. Now, whenever I walk by and see him working, I skip the place entirely.
They even made me feel uncomfortable for pointing out the issue. I will be calling Maryland Department of Health; this guy cooks your food, mops the floor, cleans the bathroom, and cleans table all with one glove on. Yuck.

Red Boat Asian Fusion is basically a Chipotle-style concept for Vietnamese dishes—most ingredients are pre-prepared, and you just pick and choose what you want.
The Boat – Build Your Own Bowl. You pick 1 protein (Lemongrass Pork, Chicken, Bulgogi Beef, or Tofu) + 1 carb + 3 veggie toppings + sauce.
Honestly, I was very disappointed. It tasted like frozen, microwaveable food straight from Costco. The vermicelli was dried out & the meat lacked freshness. The worst part? I actually saw them microwaving my dish right in front of me.
Overall, it’s overpriced and definitely not worth the money. I think its business mostly comes from convenience, since it’s located right across from the theater.

No frills place to go for good food. Very convenient to the Baltimore Hippodrome and Everyman Theatre. I love coming here for a milk tea.....a steam bun.....the K dog is amazing. The kimchi fries? Boss sauce. Lemon grass tacos? Holy ship.
It sucks watching people pass by not knowing how good this place is.....but sometimes the best kept secrets are secret for a reason?

The good: the food is pretty tasty.
Unfortunately that's really the only redeeming factor. The price is high for the portion size. Just as an example, bottles of water are $3. And the fried spring rolls - which are smaller than a $1.50 egg roll you'd get at a Chinese takeout place - are also $3 a piece. You'll get much much better value at the nearby Maiwand or Qdoba.
They don't have working bathrooms. That fact is made all the worse when they give you a straw coated in something sticky, and there's no place to wash your hands.
The whole store is generally in junky shape.
I asked to pay some portion of the bill with cash and the rest with a card. The guy said we'd have to handle the card portion first, then after charging the card he reveals that he put the full bill on the card and didn't know how to include the cash.
And after the generally poor service, they have the gall to offer you the option to tip 30% at a spot where you order from a counter and seat yourself.
