I was in the area to pick up and this spot popped up and thought it would be a good one to try for appetizers. Cozy interior with some outside seating. I was asked if I had a reservation when I walked in-I didn't and asked if I was out of luck. They did have some open tables but I was picking up. Quite around 5:30. Based on the friendly staff's recommendation, ordered Tikki Chaat, Mixed Veggie Pakodas and Trini Doubles. All 3 were Vegan and delicious with complex spices/flavors- the Pakodas are also Gluten free. If I had to choose a favorite it would be the Chaat-Potato Patties dipped in curried chutney with just the right amount of spicy. Service was exceptional with a high level of patience for answering my questions and providing recommendations. Picked up a bit by 6. Will be back for dinner. If in Hampden, make this stop!

Stubbled on this place and i must admit it might be Baltimores best kept secret. SUPER CUTE inside! Small, intimate vibe. You smell the food as soon as you enter & it smells amazing. I had the Baingan Ka Bharta, Prawns Ghee Roast, Amritsari fish fry and shrimp tacos. All were small plates but nice portions... AMAZING. Radhika took care of me. She was super attentive and super sweet. I definitely plan to eat here again in the near future.

Lovely small family owned business with amazing food and an even better atmosphere! The severs are always friendly and polite and the food is always well portioned. Located in northern Baltimore The Verandah is a must stop if you're craving Indian in the Hampden area!

I had a wonderful dining experience at the Verandah. The strawberry basil lemonade was deliciously fresh, and my samosas came out quick, warm, and complimented with a tangy raspberry sauce. Atmosphere and service were extremely hospitable on top of the meal!

The restaurant has a good ambience, clean with good staff.Food is extremely average compared to the other Indian restaurants in Maryland. The quantity for the price comparison is not impressive. I definitely would recommend them working more on improving this. Recommend dining in rather than a take out.

Entered right after opening and my order was taken almost immediately (I knew what I wanted.) Food (the Trini Doubles) was prepared quickly and was relatively flavorful and very filling. The Mango Lassi I ordered as drink was also delicious and luxurious. Cozy ambience, great service, good food- 9/10

The Verandah is one of my other favorite spots in Hampden. My go-tos are always a Mango Lassi and the vegetable pakoras. This quiet little spot is so charming and I always feel well taken care of when I come here. This place is definitely part of my regular rotations of restaurants and is a great back up if we can't decide on a spot. I have never been there on the weekend, but I am sure that it does get quite busy as their food is very good!

Recommend Tikka Marsala and Malai Kabab. Not a fan of their Saag and watch out for heat of Vada Paav

Second time coming ! Even better than the first. Started with a couple small plates, veg samosa, Lamb Vindaloo, salmon, Trini Doubles. ALL smashing; favorites were the Doubles and Salmon. Then an entree of Shrimp Kurma that was incredible all around, great shrimp, amazing curry, good portion and beautiful presentation. LASSI is also great always will recommendParking: On 36th street or in surrounding neighborhoods

The food tasted like it was freshly made to order. The spices were vibrant with some heat. I picked up carry out and I will definitely go back.

Great, cozy atmosphere and some of the best Indian food I've had in a long time. The server was friendly and gave great suggestions on the small plates. I highly recommend it!

Came here with a friend a few couple weeks ago. My friend was intrigued by one of the drinks on the menu. The server explained that it could be sweetened or unsweetened. My friend didn't realize that it was a salty drink, so we called the server and they said that they could add some sweetener. Upon the addition of the sweetener my friend still didn't care for the drink. The server then offered her a different drink which we both thought was nice. Usually when another drink is offered as a replacement, the drink being replaced is free. It was framed by the server that it would be a free replacement as well. HOWEVER, when we got the check we saw that we were charged for both of the drinks--the salty and the new one. We asked the server if there was a mistake and the server just said, "Oh I'm sorry I can't take it off your bill because my manager will be mad. We can't give out free drinks...sorry if you thought it was free." We had no choice but to pay.On top of this, the restaurant has an automatic 20% tip that is applied, and this was for a table of 2. If you are going to automatically charge tip, at least make sure the service is good. I don't know what kind of management is running this place, but they need to do better.I do not recommend this place. The food was alright, on the saltier side. Nothing amazing or worth the 20% added tip. You can find better Indian food around baltimore for less and you won't be left feeling ripped off.I gave 2 stars because up until we received the check, we had a decent time.

Summary: If you want food that tastes like my mom cooks it at home in India, go here! Not going to waste time putting you through a long review. Im picky with my five stars and this place gets one. The food was excellent (not your usual synthetic Indian restaurant types), location was great, ambience was amazing, and service was awesome. Prices are not cheap, but the Verandah delivers on flavors and the experience. I'd definitely go back and would be happy to say positive things about this place to everyone.
