True Grit's - UMBC Campus Dining Hall

Observe posted hours, they change often and don't match Google maps

The staff were absolutely horrible. Upon entering we were greeted by a woman with an uninterested tone who then ignored us. Going in the food looked nice and they had good variety (though others state it tastes poorly). I wish I had the opportunity to try it though as we were stopped a few minutes later by a janitor sent by the front desk woman telling us we weren’t welcome and should leave - he was frankly mildly nice about it but basically escorted us out past the same woman from earlier who still wouldn’t look up at us but had a smug look. Mind you, we had never said or done anything impolite (or anything at all due to how quick this experience was) so we are still confused what the problem was and can only assume it to be some type of discrimination - due to the behaviour and words of the staff - because of the feminine way my male friend dresses…?

Jesus Christ what am I eating every day. Everything tastes like Plastic. On some days it's acc good, but the indian place has like two option on the meal plan, everything else is extra. Sushi Do is actually so mid. Wild Greens is terrible. True Grits has good food once in a blue moon but its the same old crap everyday and it tastes frozen nothing is fresh. The Global Kitchen thing is acc terrible. True Grits pisses me off. I eat to survive. I genuinely can't do ts next year.

Current junior at umbc. I was sitting at my table with my plate stack ready to put them away two minutes past the closing time drinking my water. Somebody already came by in less than five seconds ago, telling everybody to put their plates away. Then this female employee comes by and tells me you need to put your plates away I acknowledge her, and she still kept coming at me saying”hello? Hello?” And she kept approaching me in an Intimidating manner. I told her somebody already came by to tell me this and I’m just finishing drinking my water please don’t be rude. She continued arguing with me and did not even let me finish my water in peace. Then she continued to walk away and murmuring under her breath saying “I’m never rude, unless you’re rude to me” Nobody ever talked to her disrespectfully. I would give the service negative stars if I could. Their employees don’t respect that majority of their demographic or students that pay large sum of money to come to Umbc and do not deserve this type of treatment. True grits needs to better teach their employees what customer service is; because we ARE paying customers. This was just sad miserable behavior.

We were on campus for a college tour. For what it is, it exceeded my and my family’s expectations. Not enough protein options though.

Unfortunately, just supervisors from many other dining areas in UMBC, They are so rude and prejudiced towards Indian students. Why such bias towards us ?

the deli lady is so rude. I asked for a tuna wrap and asked for other optionsShe gave kind of frustrated look.So cannot I ask for the other options? Also, I can take any items I want lady! She gave. o nodding of thank you, hi or bye! Such a disgrace! I am paying to get this food. She gave the attitude like she is paying for all these foods.

They really just give up on weekends, pretty much finishing up a full 45 minutes before closing. Yesterday they ran out of food? I think it was an event, but this place is just not reliable.
