Horrible Service at Water for Chocolate. Please DO NOT waste your money or ever patronize this establishment. First of all, the temperature inside was HOT and uncomfortable but we managed through it. Our dinner party reservation made for 6pm on 6/28/25, 8 ppl were offered a pre-fixed menu roughly at $100.00 per plate. We were asked to circle the items on the paper menu and return to the waiter.

At 8pm, 2 hours later we asked for our entrees to be packed to go so we can make our concert. We paid our checks in advance as we patiently waited for our order. We finally received 7 of the 8 orders. We shared with the waiter that I didn't receive my meal. The chef approached our table visibly upset and began yelling that he made 8 plates and we kindly told him that I never received my order. We reminded him that he should speak with the wait staff. We circled our order on the paper menu so the error was on the wait staff. The chef (tall dark skin bald head man) began questioning his staff loudly creating a scene in the middle of the restaurant. We paid over $800.00 as a party, my husband and I personally paid $200.00 and I left with NO food. The chef refused to fix the order or offer a refund. The level of disrespect and unprofessionalism experienced today was unimaginable. I will call tomorrow and attempt to resolve this with the Manager/Owner.

Water for Chocolate offers a very classy ambiance. The Chefs prepared orders expeditiously. Thomas’ service was exemplary and he curated the playlist that was featured. It was the perfect soundtrack for a Friday night dinner with my girls!

Wife and I decided to explore baltimore a bit, and knowing nothing found this place on maps and just showed up. So glad we did.

Just the chef on a rainy day, and an amazing experience. Juice and coffee were tasty, but our entrees were absolutely the stars of the show. I had the duck confit that had the beautiful, slow build heat of jerk seasoning, along with perfect poached eggs and delicious waffle. Wife had this amazing pulled pork quesadilla in a lovely bbq sauce. All finished with a bread pudding that combined sweet potato, classic bread pudding and a creme anglaise that was a wonderful riff on a classic. Amazing meal at a fantastic place.

I just ate an order for chocolate. The food was simply amazing. I had the prefix menu. Every single bite of every single portion was nothing short of amazing hats. Off to the incredible owner Sean Guy

Water for Chocolate is far more than fine dining!

On a visit to Baltimore with the Ben Barber Culinary/Restaurant Team, we were looking for a place that could accommodate a reservation for 30. One of my cousins came out the box with Water for Chocolate!

This intimate dining establishment showcases the talent, love, and passion of Chef/Owner Sean Guy and staff.

Our reservation was for 30 people at 5pm on a Saturday. However, when we arrived we were a group of 50! Chef Guy and crew didn't even blink! With himself at the helm of the kitchen, and staff of 3, he had us all fed with dishes such as Gluten-Free Charred Red Snapper with Cilantro-Lime Rice and Broccolini, Vegetarian Black-Eyed Red Curry, Duck Risotto, and Ribeye Steaks; all within an hour and a half! Baby, let me tell you! Chef did not miss! You could see the discipline and taste the care that was put into every dish! There wasn't a single dish that was not worthy of extensive praise!

If you're every in the Baltimore area, or a local. Make it a point to open your heart to all that is Water for Chocolate.

Check it Out!!!

Let me tell you something—Water for Chocolate is an experience, not just a restaurant. Chef Sean Guy and his team pulled off something truly exceptional when they welcomed our party of over 50 guests into their cozy space and delivered service that was nothing short of flawless. Every plate, every pour, every bite—handled with heart, hustle, and hospitality. We literally ordered everything on the menu. Gluten-free? Covered. Vegetarian? Delicious. Carnivore? Oh, you’re in for a treat. Chef Sean didn't miss a beat. His kitchen was in perfect rhythm, delivering impeccable flavor with every dish. You could taste the love and precision in every bite. If you're going, do yourself a favor—get the Chipotle Salmon and ask for extra sauce on the rice. Trust me, that flavor combo is a game-changer. But honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Every dish tells a story, and every bite feels like home. This spot is 5 stars, chef approved. Chef Sean Guy is a culinary conductor and Water for Chocolate is his symphony. Put this place on your must-dine list—you'll walk out inspired, satisfied, and already planning your next visit.

The Chef and staff handled our party of over 50 people with grace, and love. Every dish was amazing, not one person in our extra large group left hungry or unsatisfied from the food, to excellent personable service. To watch the Chef work, wow!! He is incredible. Very, very, very impressive. I highly recommend this restaurant and wonder how do we get them on James Beard or Michilin list. They deserve All the 🌟 🌟Stars.

The plating was exquisite. The food was high quality. The restaurant was cozy perfect for a lunch or dinner date. This is not a place to bring larger parties to ; this is a place that is very intimate.

My only concern was when I went the chef did not want to change the recipe at all but all wanted was no jalapeño which is understandable ! Overall this was a delightful meal although it was a little hard to eat because it was too spicy for my pallet .

Food is ALWAYS on point and they have great customer service.

Kid-friendliness: It is a small intimate restaurant so I do not recommend it for young children.

Chef Sean and the team at Water for Chocolate continue to provide an elevated yet personal experience in the coziest restaurant.

Me and my husband have been going there together since we met, but I wanted to write a review now as we hosted our goodbye brunch after our wedding there.

We reached out directly to make sure they could accomodate our large group and Chef made sure to have a great and communal feeling area of the restaurant ready to go for us.

Most importantly - the food is SO good. We had many guests from all over in town and they were so impressed with the flavors, creativity, and level of service there.

This is truly the perfect spot for a date night, girls night, or event. We also had our engagement dinner here so it was truly full circle to have our wedding brunch there as well.

You are missing out if you haven't been to WFC yet - make a reservation today.

I’ve never actually been to this restaurant but this is the second year in a row I’ve used them for catering. Both times I called them on very short notice and they were eagerly able to accommodate our order. From sandwiches to goat Mac n cheese and salad….it was all delicious once again. Would highly recommend them for your catering needs!

Customer service and food were underwhelming. Ordered the ribeye steak dish, eggs were runny and the steak was horrible.
