I came here for the crab beignet, but also got a burger. The beignet was not a beignet like you see in New Orleans - it was more of a hushpuppy. Either way it was tasty with the remoulade. The burger came with duck fat fried fries and truffle aioli- interesting.
Went here for a date. Arrived early, saw plates of food going by, and everything looked and smelled delicious. Sofia waited on us, was very warm and attentive. We ordered drinks, I ordered a simple whiskey duo, but my date ordered the Blue Harvest Cocktail. While it wasn't as sweet as she expected, she was impressed with the depth and nuance of the flavor.
I ordered the special, the New York Strip with Mashed Potatoes and Bourbon Demi-glace. My date chose one of the perennial offerings, the Pan Seared Rainbow Trout. One of the nice things about a Strip Steak is that it's lean enough that you can enjoy it Rare. I chose to order mine Rare, and it was cooked perfectly; even red center throughout, soft and tender, flavor and juices locked in a nice, crisp sear. She was likewise impressed with the flavor and flakiness of her trout, and really enjoyed the peach reduction accompanying the fish and fresh seasonal vegetables.
We had a wonderful meal, and we both agreed that we're looking forward to returning to Barrel & Crow for another delicious meal.
This was a great experience. We came here with a group of 6, each of us had a delicious meal. Incredible food!
We have visited Barrel and Crow many times since it opened. Probably won't be back. It used to be a great place for fresh, creative, and just good food. It seems tired. Service was slow, poorly timed and just not as sharp as in previous visits. We waited more than a few minutes to place an order . Our drinks came out way after our appetizers and we had to ask for them. The beet salad was good as were the tuna tacquitos. The rest of the meal lacked spark. Sorry, B&C. There are so many restaurants that are trying harder these days.
Dinner is amazing as always!! It's my go to dinner spot with my boyfriend! Food is so delicious I leave stuffed everytime!
Although the menu wasn't marked for allergies (I'm gluten free, no contamination), the server was truly knowledgeable, which made ordering extremely easy. And the food was beyond delicious.
Came for Father's Day. The $14 crab beignets were 3 overcooked crab cakes in mayonnaise sauce. The andouille and shrimp gumbo was overloaded with squid. I counted 3 shrimp, 2 small slices of sausage and 12 squid rings including 2 large tentacle sections. 100% not worth the price. The waiter never made eye contact with us. I went here because trip advisor showed it as a top restaurant. I completely disagree.
Love this place! Great location, great food, great experience. Even the owner, who visited our table, was lovely to speak to.
Limited menu after brunch, good place for tasty food
Prior to leaving the area 7 years ago, Barrel & Crow was our favorite Bethesda restaurant. We returned recently and were reminded of the reasons we love it. Great food and service, fun ambience and extraordinary value. So pleased to see that despite all the changes in Bethesda and the challenge of COVID, this place not only survived but continues to deliver a wonderful dining experience.

The food is always great. Lindey, Stephanie, Elias, Michael, Peter, Evelyn, et al. always make the experience memorable.
Barrel and Crow is a neighborhood gem. The food is consistently excellent, and the people always exceed expectations. Lindsey is a treasure!
Starts off by being greeted by Sophia who pays attention to and accommodates special reservation requests. A great neighborhood restaurant with lots of good culinary options. From the starter salad with shaved parmesan and apples, to the perfectly cooked duck, and finally the amazing beignets for desert. An eclectic menu with an Amarica and southern inspiration. My new favorite restaurant in the area.
We went to B and C because we had been there before and liked the experience. This visit supported the last visit. It was really busy (Easter Lunch- busy was not surprising) and a beer took longer than I had expected- but once mentioned- was remedied immediately, the staff were present and attentive. The food was exactly what we hoped for ... food great! The staff were really great and responsive. Happy customers! Will definitely return.
One of the best meals we've had in a long time! We order the fried calamari, duck tostados, the hanger steak, short rib special, smoked duck breast, duck fat fries, strawberry rhubarb crisp, crème brûlée, and sorbet. Our picky kids finished their dinner so fast and loved it. Everything was cooked to perfection! The service was great as was the ambience. Wish we lived in town and can eat here more often! Will definitely make this restaurant a stop on our future trips. Highly recommend!
