We invited friends to try B&C for their 1st time. We shared two appetizers- duck tostada and burrata. Duck was a nice bite with a touch of cream & vinegar from the onions. The buratta was tender with a gooey inside pairs well with toast, arugula & salted pumpkin seeds. Cocktails arrived before appetizers, always appreciated. Our friend enjoyed the margarita- I had my tangerine & thyme martini. For entrees we had- Lamb bolognese, trout, hanger steak and chicken...
The server didn't appear for 15 minutes. When I finally had to got up to find him why, he was annoyed. It's disappointing both that I had to go find a server and really disappointing that he was openly irritated with me for doing so. The food was OK, but the scallops were really salty and the dessert (beignets) were slightly underdone. Underwhelming. Atmosphere is fine, kind of a local friendly vibe and not too noisy. For Bethesda, not too expensive.
Barrel & Crow is a gem hidden in Old Bethesda. They have the most unique and delicious spins on their appetizers, main entrees, salads, sides and desserts. The waitstaff works well as a team and our server was superb! I will definitely be back for another delightful evening when I am back in town!
