Our party of three had the scrumptious honey-crusted cauliflower, pan seared rockfish specials & steak fritte w/asparagus, topped off with chocolate mousse dessert. Delicious! Service by server Malcolm made it extra special!!
Once again, out Saturday lunch turned out terrific. We ordered our burgers with fries, burger were cooked perfectly. The best part was Felix. He is just so remarkable and makes us feel like family. We love Black's for the food, the chocolate mousse stacked dessert and Felix!
Great evening out without breaking the bank. We had an appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 drink & 1 dessert for about $130 (before tip). Loved the atmosphere. The Happy Birthday message printed in our menu was a nice touch, but I wish there was a (birthday) cake option for the dessert.
We were there for our anniversary - the restaurant seems kinda dead last night yet our waiter was often no where to be found It was our anniversary so disappointing We love this restaurant so it was a surprise The food is always on point incredibly delicious !
Food was exceptional and service fantastic. We enjoyed the lobster roll, pork chop, shrimp tacos, oysters, soft shell crabs and chicken sandwich. All items were perfect and the water service was the best I've ever had. I drink lots of water and never had an empty glass and there was always plenty of ice.
We viewed the menu on line before arriving and planned to order the veal chop that was featured on the day's menu. When we arrived there was no veal chop on the menu. So we ordered soft shell crabs only to learn there were none left. We started the meal with an undrinkable Cosmo, which we returned. Tasty food but an unsatisfying meal.
In recent visits, the food at Black's in Bethesda has been consistently excellent, particularly the fish or anything on the wood grill. Would strong recommend.
A great dining experience! It was my wife's birthday, outstanding service and dining that made her very happy and satisfied.
Always a winner. We have never been disappointed. Our starters, shrimp tacos and tempura cauliflower, were delicious and generously portioned. Ahi tuna special was beautifully prepared and an interesting combination of ingredients as the base. Calamari were delicate and tender. Service was well-timed and notable for attention _from a distance_ to whether we were still eating. [Definitely a step up from "Are you still working on that" or clearing one dish while the second was not yet done.] Commendable selection of wines by the glass.
My son and I had a really nice meal at Black’s Bar & Kitchen in Bethesda. We ordered the Addie’s mussels and blackened chicken sandwiches with fries — everything was fresh and flavorful. The mussels were tender and came in a delicious broth, and the chicken sandwiches had a nice kick without being too spicy. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned.
The atmosphere was relaxed but upscale, and the staff was friendly and checked in just enough. It was a comfortable space to enjoy a meal and talk.

Black's never disappoints! We enjoyed a lovely al fresco dinner on their shaded terrace and started with the mussels appetizer—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Black's is known for their seafood, and they certainly live up to the reputation. I couldn't resist the scallops, which were seared to perfection, while my friends ordered the branzino and the chicken sandwich. Branzino is sometimes served as a small filet, but not here—Black's offers a generous, beautifully prepared portion that was absolutely delicious. Our server, Ryan, was attentive, friendly, and full of helpful menu suggestions, making the experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates great seafood and a welcoming atmosphere!
Love happy hour Oysters and Champagne 🍾
They charge a non-cash charge regardless of whether you pay credit, debit, or check. 4.3% of the bill.
Went to Black's last night with my boyfriend. We ordered the arugula salad, the scallops and the ribeye to share. The salad was delicious, and the wait staff was kind enough to find out what the dressing was for me since I liked it so much. The scallops were fantastic, and I loved the rainbow chard and mashed potatoes with it. The ribeye, on the other hand, was terrible. It may have been the worst steak I've ever had. It was a super thin cut, and completely fatty and gristly. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but it came out between rare and medium rare. I would have sent it back because it was so bad, but my boyfriend hates sending stuff back, so I just ate the scallops and salad. It's sad that Blacks would serve such a poor cut of meat, and charge $50 for it.
Better than the other Black's restaurants-- and much less expensive! I have been to Black's Bethesda four times recently, and I have enjoyed each time. Amazing that steaks and burgers are perfectly cooked and very tasty - and their seafood is excellent too. I have loved the hanger steak, the burger, and last night, a fabulous ribeye. My wife had branzino, and our friends had the scallops and the tuna sopa. They each loved their items. Califlower appetizer and duck tacos were a delight, and my apple tart was delicious -- although I could have used a bigger scoop of ice cream with it, We will be returning soon. Oh one thing -- the parking lot next door has gotten tricky, being automated. Be sure to pay for extra time -- we paid but still got a ticket when we overstayed by about 3 minutes.
