It's impossible not to compare Don Pollo to other local Peruvian chicken places, like Crisp & Juicy or el Pollo Rico. Because of that there's a high bar set. The chicken is fresh, juicy, and well seasoned, but I'd have preferred a more crispy skin. The black beans and rice lacked flavor, definitely needed salt. The fries were where they lost me. They weren't fresh, weren't seasoned, weren't hot, and worst of all, they were kind of soggy. The sauces were very good. You get a bright green spicy sauce, that seems to be made from fresh peppers, perhaps jalapeño. Then there's a mayo based creamy orange colored sauce. Frankly because the chicken is so well seasoned, I don't think it needs sauce, but it's nice to have the option.

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Had to have the iconic Peruvian chicken on the rotisserie. The good scent wafting as one walks in. We also had their version of seafood fried rice. Would definitely return for rhe chicken.

Walked in and the guy working at the register watched me come in, made eye contact, watched me walk all the way up to the register and as I got to the register he walked away and into the back.
It’s a shame, the food is pretty good but you just lost a long time customer because of one bad employee.

I was a frequent customer and visited the place multiple times, two of these times I found myself very ill after eating the chicken, went to the doctor and received a food poisoning diagnosis. At the beginning, I couldn’t believe the chicken made me sick so I visited the place again and put my usual 2 chicken and sides order only to find out without a doubt that in don Pollo of Potomac on Westlake Drive in the Bethesda location, they sometimes sell the chicken that was not sold the past days. Go find yourself a totally different place unless you have “Food Poisoning cravings” .

Best Peruvian style chicken around plus they have some nice other choices such as Chaufa con mariscos that is amazing. addendum: , I have eaten there and also been disappointed with other like Jalea de Mariscos so stick with the chicken.

I wanted to have an appetizer for lunch; ceviche. As I waited for my appetizer, I saw two women trying the ceviche, and one of them the manager. The other lady choose to try it too which it was an employee. The employee used the same spoon to tried the ceviche. Unacceptable that they tried to sell me the ceviche like that.
