Good food but I was a little skeeved out by the dirty men's room. also the menus were old and stained. Mine had mold residue on it. But food was delish and very reasonable for downtown Bethesda. Server was tops.

We love their gyoza, chicken katsu, and sake. Ethan, the bar manager, is the best and makes a delicious mojito. The new renovations also look awesome and chic.

My wife and I went to Hanaro during lunch time, but it was only for takeout. There were some crumbs on the floor and some dust by the waiting area, but the store was fairly clean. The price of the sushi is reasonable and the taste and flavor of the sushi is of the highest quality. I am giving this restaurant a four-star rating because the taste of the sushi was truly exceptional and of the highest quality. Despite some minor cleanliness issues, the reasonable price and outstanding flavor make Hanaro a great choice for sushi lovers.

Hanaro hits the spot, and you can get delivery. As of the date of this order, they have a deal on Uber Eats where several of their items are buy one get one free, including the Firecracker roll, which normally costs more than $15. It has a huge topping of imitation crab, spicy mayo, and tempura crunchies, and is stuffed with a slightly spicy mix of crab, tuna, and salmon. Tasty stuff if you like more complicated maki. In addition to that one, we sampled the salmon avocado, shrimp avocado, and Bethesda roll, with a side of edamame. The menu has all types of sushi, plus noodle dishes, dumplings, and lots more. Big drink menu too. You won't leave disappointed.

I came here when they still had indoor seating. The shrimp tempura roll here was good. The takoyaki and the gyoza were ok. The lychee cosmo was a decent fruity drink. The bartender was friendly and helpful. Bethesda doesn't have any great sushi places but if I had to get sushi while in Bethesda, I would probably come here. Overall I had a good experience.

I tried this restaurant for the first time this year for my birthday. Honestly I'm so impressed at the quality that I just don't feel like writing several pages of analysis this time. I got delivered the following: (for starters) --miso soup --2 orders of deep fried gyoza --agedashi tofu (for the main entreé) --hanaro noodles (paired with) --a side of sushi rice --several orders of nigiri (1 saba, 2 sake, 1 ikura) Everything was just outstanding! I got exactly what I ordered, and the driver was very prompt and polite!! In particular, the gyoza was just the right crunchy. I've never had sushi rice by itself before and I loved it so much!! I'm not sure I can go back to ordinary steamed rice! Usually I'm not much of an udon fan (#teamramenforever), but the noodle entreé was just such a delicious medley of so many different vegetables and meats with just the exact right amount and thickness of broth. It was fantastic!! The nigiri had a smaller role in this show's cast (i'm a recovering sushi-holic)--but all means, it shined the brightest! I don't think I've ever had sushi in the US that was as flavorful and fresh and tender...it was like the finest wagyu--if wagyu could swim. They even fulfilled my request for authentic wasabi (another first for me!) This is the type of place that has me deeply conflicted: On one hand, I really want to try them again next year...I would especially love to try the omakase experience! On the other hand, there are just SO many restaurants in Bethesda that I haven't tried yet...and so few birthdays! This one, at least, was very happy. :)

Delicious food! The service was amazing and the taste of the dumplings is my favorite thing in the world!

YUMMY, AMAZING sushi. great selection of rolls, great specialty rolls! the only reason for 4 stars is they are a little pricey compared to other places. as far as flavor goes though, they're 5 stars!

Decent sushi for average price for the area. We got the cucumber, avocado, and cream cheese maki and the cherry blossom roll. The cherry blossom roll was good and I would get it again.

I'm new to yelp, and I couldn't be happier to have Hanaro start off my reviews! I can be quite the the critic, especially when it comes to sushi, but I got a strong recommendation from my friend from the area that this place could not be missed. The fish quality here is excellent! I'm not super into the complex rolls, but Hanaro has options for all. I selected one of their chefs choice assortments, a 9 piece nigiri sampler with a salmon roll. I was so pleased with the selection and impeccable quality. Love the cute drawings up front as well:)

Hate to write the obit for this restaurant, but it has to be. Ordered take-out tonight from this place (that's all they do now) which was pretty good during the early (2020) parts of the pandemic, but the quality has gone precipitously down hill. By precipitously, I mean sushi that tastes "musty," a word I've never used to describe raw fish. This is a warning. I've ordered sushi more than a hundred times in my life; lived several years in Japan; bought it from grocery stores; but never until tonight had sushi that needed to be tossed out. The rolls tasted and smelled like an old warehouse, the sushi as well. Everything tasted horrible. None of this is helped by the fact that Hanaro the restaurant is no more, and what remains are a bunch of dirty cardboard boxes in a former dining room / bar. Hanaro may stick around for a little while longer, but they won't be seeing me again. None of this is to knock the friendly service staff, but again, this is take-out only, so there really isn't a service aspect of the restaurant to speak of.

I'm absolutely amazed by the service. My daughter and I came in for a special treat to celebrate but she can be quite the picky eater. I explained this to the host and she was so great at helping us. It's very clear that their staff up front is familiar with the menu and how picky kids can be. We had a very complicated order(basically a Chirashi bowl with no raw fish) however that's not something that was easily accommodated. She was very good at explaining an alternative and organizing it in a way that wouldn't make it insanely expensive for a 6 year olds meal. I'm so grateful for the time she spent on us and will definitely be ordering again.

Absolutely amazing restaurant! Just as good as another place I like to go called Kusshi Ko! Can't wait to go back and have the Uni and Ikura, it was so fresh!!

The spicy miso ramen is really good! I highly recommend it and I ordered chicken teriyaki with it, great presentation and taste very good!

I came here around 9 pm on a weekday night because I was starving and craving some Japanese food. This place is technically located inside Kusshi Sushi, so you would just be seated regularly there and can order food off their menu. For Donburi Dojo and Ramen House, the food items are listed on the Silver Spring online menu (but you can still order them here at the Bethesda location!). I ordered a pork katsu don. It blew me away with how good it was and totally surpassed my expectations. All of the katsu pieces were cooked well and mixed great with the egg and onions. The sauce was my favorite part because of how flavorful it was, ultimately creating a slightly sweet dish that completely hit the spot for me. It's easily the best katsu don that I've had in the DMV area!
