Pizza dough was raw and gooey on top...it made me sick and I couldn't eat it. Quality asiago cheese was used, though.

I order this place once a month and bring it home to my family to enjoy so id say the pizza is usually great. Only twice have they gotten my order wrong and once they gave me a refund for the item they made a mistake on. Normally, the pizza has as much toppings and sauce as the pictures show but today.. it was different. They underdelivered on the garden harvest (could name this one garden scraps), the pesto chicken hardly tasted like pesto, and their new mushroom pizza was mostly bread cheese and sauce (in that order). They mostly get it right and im not sure whats been happening recently but it’s kinda a let down.

I have never eaten in the restaurant nor have i really talked to there servers (always pickup and i order thru their app) so i don’t know how the service is and i have to TIP upfront even if they get the order wrong. So when i tip average and the order is wrong i usually tip a little less the next time; if they end up doing it right then i bring the tip back up the next time. This time, i checked the pizza in the parking lot and saw that the quality I’m used to was lacking so i thought a little and realized that i forgot to tip on a $50, 3 pizza order.

Yeah, my bad, and i could have easily called them back to add a tip if the pizzas meet their own expectations but instead it looks like the food was catered to that mistake so I’m left thinking that the tip isn’t for great service, it’s to make sure the chef meets the quality and expectations of chef tony. So a ~16.95 pizza becomes a ~23.50 pizza (%6 tax, 2.50 service fee, and 15% tip).

I’m really struggling to see where the service is when i use an app to order and i only interact with the host/hostess to pick up my order. It feels like tipping up front is expected and if you don’t then prepare to suffer. They did not taint my food that i know of.

I wholeheartedly encourage people to try the pizza: it usually is great but if asked if i know a good place for detroit style pizza i will say hit or miss hemi pizza. I’ll go back and try again but I’ll probably only get 1 pizza for me and my family and I’ll tip %30+ and see if the topping ratio increases. If it does then my suspicions of a shakedown will be confirmed; it it doesn’t then maybe there are more pressing issues at play. Either way i think I’m in for another let down.

1st edit, no change: i hope i don’t have to keep adding like this but i just asked my partner how she liked the pizza (an hour after eating and i had yet to tell her my experience this time) and she said one of them was underdone in the middle and when i asked her which one it was she said she didn’t know cause they all looked the same…

The pizza was amazing. Our first time having Detroit style pizza and possibly the best pizza I’ve ever had. We got a chicken bbq and a specialty hot honey one. Well worth it. Only critique is that the pick up was confusing. It’s in the lobby of an apartment building and inside of chef Tony’s restaurant for the pickup.

Really great Detroit pizza. Strangely in the middle of an apartment building.

Stopped by Hemi’s recently to pick up an order I placed online. If you are ever going to this spot you should factor in 10 mins just get in and out. It took me a while to not just get in the premises but also find the restaurant in the apartment complex (good thing it’s on the first floor). My order was ready when I got there and it was fresh (piping hot). If you like Detroit style pizza you will love this place. The portion size was fantastic.

I was looking forward to trying Detroit style pizza again after Underground closed - about 45 minutes after I placed my order, I received an email that it had been cancelled because "the restaurant had closed or was no longer accepting orders". If you can't fulfill an order, then don't accept it - don't cancel 45 minutes later when my kid is already hangry!

Must try! The location is a challenge to find. You approach a gate community. A security guard will give you a parking pass. Parking in the first lot, and enter where it says “arcade.” Make a right then left. The hostess was friendly. I was able to order my pizza on a kiosk. The pizza was fresh and crispy. The crab pizza is a must try!
