Levain Bakery – Bethesda Row, Maryland

The first time I went to Levain Bakery ... I was in the Georgetown location, and I was concerned that this spot wouldn't be as good because you know, how could it be?

But let me tell you the Levain Bakery skills transfer ... These people can bake... I have never had a cookie like this... they are sooo delicious 🍪👩🏾‍🍳... I wish we had one of these in my town. The cookie is almost as big as a biscuit and the chocolate chip to cookie ratio is unbelievable.... It's quite amazing. I will never be afraid to walk into this store, no matter the location... Go there and eat all the delicious baked goods, you might need to hit the gym or fast the next day, but wow it's worth it no matter what!!!

I have only ever ordered online from Levain Bakery (some of the best cookies in the world... but you have to pay hehehe), so when I saw there was one 0.3 miles from my hotel, I was determined to walk there. At the time, there was a 20% off sale for Memorial Day and free shipping for the 8 or 12 pack online. However, you can't get the same deal in the store. I ended up paying a little bit more buying in the store, and I had to carry the heavy cookies all the way back to Houston. In hindsight, I should have visited the bakery and bought my cookies online 😅

On a positive note, the bakery has so many more items that you can't order for shipping. Sadly, though, I didn't try any of them.

Not worth the hype tbh, just a really thick cookie, it satisfies the craving for sure had a quarter of it and was full.

If you like cookies or any baked item, Levain Bakery is the place to go. Its a bit pricey but worth every penny as the treats are delicious and the cookies...oh the cookies, are thick and full of buttery flavor.
I purchased a blueberry muffin and a oatmeal raisin cookie, and couldn't stop eating the cookie; it was so yummy

The 🍪 cookies are huge, and you have many flavours.
We couldn't eat more than one because it was too much. But if we could we would have eaten more.

Vegetarian options: I don't think it is vegetarian, since usually butter 🧈 is used in bakery.

Dietary restrictions: I didn't see any gluten free options, so better ask.

Parking: You have parking nearby (you have to pay).

Kid-friendliness: Yes.

Wheelchair accessibility: It was accessible for someone with mobility problems.

Great cookies, friendly staff, and well-prepared Cortados! Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick sweet treat to keep you going.

The oatmeal raisin cookie is ridiculous. It’s five bucks, but it’s at least three cookies.

It's a beautiful bakery with lots of baked goods to choose from. I was craving a chocolate chip cookie. This cookie was thick, dense, and cakey, and the center was soft like and crumbly. The flavor was intense chocolate from the chocolate chip but was lacking the buttery richness that I prefer in a cookie. The price is at $5.50 per cookie.
If you prefer thinner, chewy, butter rich cookies, this isn't it.

Such a great place to grab coffee and something sweet. Their cookies are DELICIOUS!!! 10/10. And they were warm! Notra (barista) was so kind and a 10/10 for customer service. Looking forward to going back soon!

Love love love! We recently moved from downtown Bethesda last year and miss Levain Bakery! We were visiting this weekend and had to make a stop and were pleased with the cookies, the bread and the hot chocolate 😊 The pumpkin spice ginger bread, the chocolate chip walnut cookie and the oatmeal raisin cookie did not disappoint!

We also want to give a big shout out to Notra for her EXCELLENT customer service and bright smile, which often makes all the difference! She was friendly, attentive and overall lovely! We’ll be back again on our next visit 😊

I stopped into this bakery on insistence of my friends who lived local to the area. Like most people, I have eaten a ton of cookies in my life- big, little, thin, chunky. The storefront was very cute and I loved the downtown vibe. It wasn’t super busy when we went so our orders got taken pretty quickly. I will say the cookie was a bit on the pricey side (around $5ish) but it’s a small, local bakery so I let it slide. I ordered the chocolate chip and oh my god. This was one of the best cookies I’ve ever bought from a bakery in my entire life. The cookie was MASSIVE. They are on the sweet side so I could not finish mine in 1 sitting. In fact, it looks me several days to finish mine. One because it was so large and two because I was savoring it since we didn’t go back to this area later. I don’t know what they put in their recipe but it was like crack and I loved every bite.

This is the bakery you’re looking for. The cookies are huge—soft, flavorful, and warm every time. I’ve only been to this bakery a few times and each time has been consistent in quality and service. They are usually in stock of their full menu but early in the day to get their freshest batch of cookies and banana bread!

Love the chocolate chip cookies! I wanted to try the new fall flavor and it just wasn’t for me but I would definitely keep getting the two chocolate chip which is my favorite warmed up 🥰
