I went to this location for the first time because I work in Bethesda. I ordered the lemon raspberry and caramel apple cider and when I got home to share with my family they were not fresh. When they were given to me they were extremely cold like they had been frozen. I will not go back again. Plus they had one poor girl working the front and I had to wait 15 minutes for a paid online order.

Don't get me wrong that cake was amazing. Red velvet is so good. But , i called at 6 asking if it was to late to get a cake because i was mindful they close soon and i work in customer service so i get its annoying to come in when its gonna close in the next 30 min. But it was my birthday, so i called and asked if it was ok for me to come in and get a cake since its close to closing time. The lady on the phone said it was completely fine even after I said I don't mind going somewhere else if it's inconvenient but she said it was fine. I went with my boyfriend and when we arrived she had assumed I was someone else? She assumed I was someone she had been emailing but on the phone I told her I was gonna order it there. She then had lots of attitude when I was really nice. She was extremely rude, and then I asked if they had a tip jar and she said what is that and gave me a nasty look. I'm not sure what I did wrong if she said it was ok to come. I even offered to leave and find somewhere else if it was too inconvenient and she said no. I also asked if I should come back or stay here bc I didn't know if the cake was gonna take awhile. She gave me so much attitude the entire time. It was wedesnday August 13, 6:00 pm. So whoever was working that day, she really needs a talking too by the manager. The cake was amazing tho! Just probably some bad staff

I got my birthday cake from this place and it is just a lovey, beautiful and delicious. It absolutely made my day special. About the taste, I am enjoying “lemon-raspberry” and wish it is not a seasonal flavor. Also I wish, you could make “sugar-free” cake (with stevia or some other sweet alternative) for diabetes family member to have a piece…just a thought.

I want to share an honest and cautionary experience for anyone considering purchasing cakes from this location. While the storefront and branding may appear inviting, there are several behind-the-scenes issues that customers deserve to know.

First and foremost, the cakes are not made fresh. Many are baked and frozen—sometimes for months—before they’re thawed, microwaved, frosted, and decorated for sale. If you’re ordering for a special event, you may want to reconsider what you’re actually serving your guests.

Cleanliness is also a major concern. The back of the bakery is disorganized and unsanitary, with a staff bathroom located inside the same space where cakes are prepped and stored. This raises serious red flags for hygiene and food safety standards.

There is documented cross-contamination between gluten-free and regular cakes due to shared utensils and improper sanitation. If you or someone you’re serving has a gluten sensitivity or allergy, this could be dangerous.

The ingredients used are extremely heavy on sugar, butter, and cream cheese, which is typical for these cakes, but the amount used here makes them far from a healthy or thoughtfully crafted dessert. On one occasion, a fly was found in the icing bowl—it was trapped with a cup by a froster and the same frosting was still used for cake decoration. Completely unacceptable.

Also troubling is the way customer complaints are handled. The owners are often unreachable and use multiple email accounts to appear as if customers are communicating with different managers, creating confusion and avoiding accountability. If you do raise a concern, expect a quick coupon as compensation—likely just a way to offload more frozen inventory.

At the end of the day, if you’re celebrating something meaningful like a birthday or milestone, you deserve a cake that reflects care, freshness, and integrity. I strongly encourage supporting local non-franchise bakers who invest real time and energy into their creations.

Please take this review seriously and make an informed decision. A beautiful cake should come with peace of mind—not doubts about its freshness, safety, or origin.

Very yummy! You will definitely want to have more than one! The bundles have a small sticker with the flavor name which is super helpful. Really enjoyed the Oreo Cookies and Cream!

Get Dunkin Hines box and icing. Save your money. The yellow color shows it is premade, probably yellow #55. Disgusting. Fake cake. Fraud. Worse birthday gift for my sister. She hated it. This was a waste of my $40. Fraud. Fraud. Disgusting. Even the icing is from a box. Shame on you.

Extremely disappointed! Double tiered cake was delivered in a bag with no box or covered for protection. As a result half of the cake lost it frosting. Please do not offer to this cake delivery unless the product can be properly protected!

Unkind staff member on 2/6/2025 in the evening refused to give me my item even though I had an email for it. Did not shop at this location

Just tried one of the red velvet cupcakes as a guest at a holiday party. Delightful — the best red velvet cake I’ve ever tasted. An assortment of cupcake flavors were being served and they were a hit — festive and delicious.

Every time I come here for a promotion received via email this location doesn’t participate. It’s annoying.

I must say I'm so disappointed. I've been buying cakes at this location for the past year, but now cakes have significantly shrunken. Basically, they are charging you the same price for less cake.

I swear by this bakery for my job. I work for UDC and order for our Faculty and Staff Service awards. People fight over these cupcakes and someone ALWAYS gets theirs stolen when they take their eyes off of them. A true gem.
