Three strikes in just one month — and I’m officially done with Ruta. First visit: my steak was completely overcooked. Not medium, not medium-well — just dry and rubbery. Second time: the manager personally promised to send me the catering menu for my housewarming party. I was ready to give them real business — but they never followed through. No email, no call, nothing. And today? They brought out a dessert by literally tossing a small plate into a bigger one like it was cafeteria service. No care, no presentation, no pride. Three failures in one month — that says a lot about how much they value their customers. You better start taking your customer service seriously and learn to appreciate loyal clients with the respect they deserve. Because right now? It’s not just disappointing — it’s embarrassing.
Our family lived in Ukraine for 20+ years. We are in DC for Spring Break and found your restaurant online. So, we decided to come and try it out. AMAZING! Your food transported us back to "home"!
Great food, service and atmosphere. We especially liked the chicken Kyiv and fall special varenyky. Will definitely come back!

Ruta Ukrainian Restaurant is a great addition to the dining scene in Bethesda, MD. Their chef knows his stuff, and the food is delicious and beautifully presented. The staff is considerate and helpful, and the invented drinks are enjoyable to experience. I brought my friends to Ruta, and they loved it!

In all my reviews, there was no other restaurant like this that I wanted to give the highest possible rating to. Beautiful design, friendly staff, spectacular food service!
Unfortunately, we came during brunch, so the menu was limited and we didn't try what we had planned. Ukrainian food is one of the most delicious in the world, but this time it was just okay (but pompushka was among the best in my entire life!). These are the notes of someone who is very familiar with the dishes. However, for those who have never tried it, I think this place can be a perfect place to start with. You will definitely not be hungry after all!
I really want to believe that this place will adjust their recipes and it has a bright future!

Our family dined at RUTA Bethesda this evening and my goodness it was amazing! A delightful staff that made sure we loved our meal. We tried a little bit of everything - appetizers, entrees and desserts! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and clean. The cocktails were well-balanced. They offer seasonal specials and cocktails, which is so fun! We can’t wait to go back!

Food has little taste. Borscht was below average. We also had Ukrainian breakfast and didn't like it. Varenyki were “oily” and tasteless. We liked the atmosphere and the server though.

Exceptional Ukrainian cuisine, friendly staff and great interior to enjoy! The meals are the closest to authentic Ukrainian traditional homestyle food you could find in DMV area. Ukrainian borscht, sauerkraut varenyky and medovyk (honey cake) are must-haves!

Great food, great service. My only (very minor) suggestion: replace the silverware. What they have now looks cheap.

Not sure who wrote all those reviews here- most of their food has NO taste! Varenyky taste like Costco. Compot has chemical aftertaste. Deruny- dry over frozen potatoes with no taste. Green borsch is nothing like green borsch. Blini filling had strange taste as well. What a shame! This is nothing like our authentic dishes. We came for our Ukrainian family reunion dinner and It was such a disappointment. I think it’s a big shame for the owners to call this Ukrainian food.

One of the best places to spend a weekend branch time with the tasty breakfast plates such as Ham Shakshuka or Eggs Benedict with Ukrainian twist to it. As well as borscht beat soup or a cool bar cocktail menu with alcohol and moktails. The interior is super cozy and relaxing probably even better than a DC location one. Said that I suggest Ruta to get exposure such as a local Farmers Market to give out samples of foods and promote their new location so more people are coming.
