I’m so disappointed to leave this review here because I have always loved coming here. The food, the atmosphere and everything is always very nice. And this place really does feel like the last of its kind.
However today around 12pm, my waitress was extremely rude to me. My partner and I just got married and my friend made a silly joke about “we’re just waiting for her husband.” The waitress was so extremely rude. She just froze there and made a very unhappy face, and went to her coworkers and started gossiping. Then her and another woman came back and said “you guys look like teenagers.” I am 23 years old. It’s also none of their business…
I felt so uncomfortable eating there. It’s unfortunate because it’s hard to find good quality small diners.

We travel all over the world and have our favorite spots everywhere we go. Some are fancy, some are because of the incredible food, some have great views, but the tasty diner is one of my favorites. I’ve been coming here since 2011 as a patient at the NIH. And while I was going through some very hard treatments that continued for more than 13 years, the tasty diner has become a place of nostalgic memories. Their food is great, it is old school and simple but done right.
They used to be open all night, so were the only place I could go after treatments, and procedures but they were always friendly and made me feel like I was in a small town diner. The kitchen is right beside the tables and the conversations were always entertaining.
I just love this humble place in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the high end Bethesda area.
