Can't go wrong with this Bethesda staple / institution! Friendly staff and owners, great selection of libations and revamped menu. The prices won't leave you out on the street, and centrally located to everything.

$5 specials on selected draft beers. Good cheesesteak and quesadilla. Decent place to watch a game on a Sunday afternoon, though the music is a bit loud.

A unpretentious classic pub with no frills. Great place to get a beer and people watch. Stef runs the bar like a well oiled machine.

Had a great time here. Sunday night the manager Matt treated us great and even cooked food for us after the cooks went home. The food was awesome. Monday night Mike B treated us great as server. He had a huge number of customers to serve and did great. He’s awesome too.

Great to watch the Liverpool match, all tvs on and snyced up. Dylan was working and so helpful. Amazing service!Wheelchair accessibility: Stairs to walking the front no ramp, talked to Dyland and he was more than will to help with supporting getting a person with the wheelchair in.

Not too rowdy or crowed for a Thursday night if you’re looking to just grab a pint or two with a couple of friends. Good crew who always wear a smile!

Used to go there for last 16 years, today my experience was a disaster- they charged me $100 for a pitcher of beer without my authorization, I am filling complain with my credit card. No wonder there were hardly anyone there, what a shame, used to be an amazing hangout place, NO LONGER :(

On St. Patrick's Day, my mom wanted green beer, so we went to The Barking Dog. The gastropub was filled with sports fanatics. Since alcoholic drinks weren't permitted in the patio area, we were seated at a booth near the bathroom. My brother had an O'Doul's, my fiancé had a Crooked Crab Haze for Days Pale Ale, my parent shared a New Trails Crisp Lager (dyed green), and I had a Green Tea Cocktail. We shared an order of Pub Pretzels, which was served warm and with a spicy cheese dipping sauce.

Visited The Barking Dog for dinner on a Tuesday night. Took a spot at the bar with the big screens on Premier League soccer and college basketball tournaments. The bar was busy but most of the restaurant section and outdoor were wide open. The bartender quickly got my drink order (I had a tasty local red ale) and, shortly following, my dinner. I had the Barking Dog Hot Dog which had a mound of sauerkraut with mustard underneath on a really soft hoagie roll. The hot dog was very good. Plenty filling. The star of the plate was the housemade Old Bay chips. They were great plain and even better dipped in a bit of ranch. Another beer later (Barking Dog's amber this time) and I was a happy customer. Thanks Barking Dog!

This was once our happy hour meetup place back in the day, but sadly we have witnessed one too many incidents of the owner being rude, degrading, & discriminatory to both his employees and his customers. Our most recent visit last year, we were so appalled we debated just walking out before our food even came. If you read other negative reviews, you will see his behavior reflected in the way he responds w/o ever taking responsibility for his actions or poor service. You will also see this for yourself if you ever visit when he is present (though with the amount of good restaurants in Bethesda, I wouldn't waste your time here). While his staff is always friendly, his own kindness and basic human respect for anyone that doesn't look and talk like him, is majorly lacking. For that reason (among others), we cannot personally support John's business anymore.
