The Red Bandana Bakery

A truly disappointing experience at this bakery. I first ordered a cake, which was so dry it completely fell apart when cut. The owner did try to make up for it by offering a gift certificate, so I decided to give them another chance and ordered a dozen cupcakes with it. Unfortunately, half of the cupcakes looked sloppy and unappetizing. When I asked the owner to take a second look, she refused to help unless I paid first. After I paid, she told me she thought they looked fine. When I disagreed, she took a few minutes and said she "re-did" them, but they looked exactly the same.
Reluctantly, I took the cupcakes home, but they were awful. Not only did they look terrible, but they also tasted so bad that they were inedible, and I ended up throwing them away. To make matters worse, the owner was clearly irritated with me and didn’t even try to hide it. I'm truly disappointed and won't be returning. A complete waste of time and money.

I can’t recommend Red Bandana Bakery enough! As a parent of a son with celiac disease and both of my sons who are lactose intolerant, finding a bakery that can create a beautiful, delicious cake that accommodates all of our dietary needs is a rare find. Red Bandana went above and beyond, crafting a stunning, gluten-free and vegan birthday cake topped with an adorable melting ice cream cone design.

The cake itself was incredibly moist and flavorful, and even though vegan cakes have a slightly different texture compared to traditional ones, it was still absolutely delicious. For anyone unfamiliar with vegan or gluten-free cakes, just be aware that the texture is different than a typical cake, but for us, it was a hit! It’s so hard to find a fancy, well-decorated cake that meets these dietary restrictions, and Red Bandana delivered in style.

Red Bandana decorated the cutest cat and dog cookies that I brought to my vet practice for the doctor and team. The owner discussed my wishes and had the cookies ready with just a couple days’ notice. The office raved about the taste and the adorable decorating with pink ears and tongues, cool tans and brown and whites for the coats, and the sweetest tiny edible collars with a gold buckle. They exceeded my expectations and made me so proud and excited to deliver this holiday gift. I’ll order more and often!

Stopped by Red Bandana Bakery in Bethesda and tried a chocolate cupcake, some focaccia bread, and their pomegranate Persian drink. Honestly, this place felt pretty mid to me. The bakery itself wasn't super clean, which made the experience less enjoyable. The cupcake was unfortunately dry, not what I was hoping for. The Persian drink was way too sour for my taste, and the focaccia bread didn't impress either. Probably wouldn't return here; it just didn't hit the mark for me.

I ordered a cake for my daughter’s shower. It was absolutely delicious. And the decoration was so beautiful. I highly recommend and will use this bakery again!

My boyfriend got me a 30th birthday cake that was supposed to be Chocolate with chocolate ganache and pink frosting. I don't know if not enough cocoa powder was added or what happened but it does not taste like chocolate at all. Also, it is very dense and the frosting has a subtle strawberry taste to it (it isn't supposed to). All in all, I'm pretty disappointed to receive a birthday cake like this, especially my 30th one.

We taste tested cupcakes from five gluten free bakeries for our wedding. The Red Bandana outdid them all. Even better, they were closest to our venue. We ordered our delicious gluten free, dairy free, soy free cake through The Red Bandana and couldn’t have been happier. The majority of guests just knew that they were eating wedding cake. The guests that needed to know were aware that they were eating gluten free wedding cake. (We didn’t intentionally withhold information. We simply forgot to mention it.) We all had cake. All the allergies were addressed. Having to go to the special allergen free table to get my “safe” food grew old ages ago. Being able to eat my cake and not worry about having a reaction if I picked up the wrong slice provided a breath of fresh air and relaxation for us and our guests.

We worked with The Red Bandana Bakery to make our wedding cake and we couldn’t be more pleased! It was so delicious and we really enjoyed the tasting process. Our cake looked beautiful on our wedding day and we are still enjoying the leftovers a couple days later. Thanks!

I ordered an all vegan cake & I loved the overall look of the cake I really did, they did an amazing job but the reason why it’s a two star review for me is because the cake itself was a bit too sweet. I think in the future it would be best if the cake was less sweet, as well as the frosting, I would love it if you guys could make a vegan buttercream frosting for your cakes that wasn’t so sweet acknowledging the price that one is paying for the cake. Also the bread part of the cake was a little crummy & powdery like, if you guys could please work on that. I would definitely purchase again but I’d love see these changes the next time I order with you guys !! I don’t want to make it all look negative so again the look of the cake was beautiful & the center of the raspberry filling was delicious.
