There was practically no one in the restaurant but the service was very slow. It took the food a long time to come out and it came out one at a time. It's not clear why they didn't serve it all at once. The bathroom wasn't entirely clean either and we were some of the first, if not the first, people in the restaurant for the day.
I have gone there several times in the past and had a good experience, but have never had such a disappointing experience like I did most recently. We went to celebrate my dad's 75th birthday and the service did not meet expectations. When trying to order drinks, they were out of simple drinks like Moscow Mule and while offering a full bar, did not have olives for my dad's martini. Instead of checking with him before serving a drink to see if he wanted something else since they didn't have what he wanted, they sent the drink with no apology. For a near empty restaurant and lots of servers walking around, the servers rarely came by. It got so bad that when our food was delivered, no one stayed long enough for us to ask for silverware or plates. They took so long to check on us or ever come by that we ended up walking to the bar to get drinks and went to go find our own silverware and plates from the server stations. Most of the food was delicious, but some of it was served cold as if the fries were still frozen or something. It put a damper on the birthday vibe and virtually no customer service. Overall, really disappointed with our experience. I'm not sure if something happened to the restaurant recently, but will second guess before going there again.
Not as good as previous visits. Mains took almost 45 minutes, salmon and fries were dry and overcooked
We were a little disappointed with our visit. The tenderloin was extremely tough and my partner didn't end up eating most of it. The grilled chicken and mashed potatoes were on the cold side. Service was average.
Overall the food was very good. Why they put mayonnaise on a turkey burger I'll never understand.
Food was fine, not as good as it has been in previous visits. Server was not as attentive as others in the past. On previous visits food and service much better.
We have been regulars here for several months, with the quality of food and drink bringing us back. The menu features "duo's", but the cost of any we would want is actually more than ordering them separately (which has been pointed out to managers); kind of annoying/amusing. Service on this visit was awful. The servers seemed overwhelmed, though the restaurant was not packed. We finally were given water and one cocktail after about 15 minutes. The second cocktail came a few minutes later. The food arrived in appropriate timing, but the main dish was a bit alarming. We frequently order the ahi poke bowl, so we know what to expect. So when both of ours came with several more hot peppers than expected, we got growing heat in our mouths. The manager agreed the situation was unacceptable and gave us credit for the appetizer, which we appreciated.
The food was not as good as usual. The kale salad was spicy and I was not able to eat it. It is usually very good. Did you change the recipe? Also the food was lukewarm.
The food was very good. But, truthfully, the portions were rather skimpy--especially given the robust pricing of the entrees.
We had less than ideal service during my last visit which detracted from the whole experience
Restaurantji Recommends
Food and service are always very good at this location. Noise level is high when dining indoors.
Diverse and tasty menu; Good special deal at lunchtime. Excellent service. Nice place to eat but be forewarned -- it's noisy.
It was my birthday lunch with husband and son and what an awful experience for it being our 1st time there. Too long time to get our food and when it arrived, fries were cold as was the pesto pasta with chicken. The burger was ok but not well done as ordered/requested and kale salad was too spicy. Unbelievable that a “true food” restaurant would service and charge for chips out of bag rather than make their own from fresh sweet potatoes. Do not recommend as we were quite disappointed.
There are not a lot of restaurants we like in Bethesda, so we're glad True Food is here. Their food is healthy (as far restaurant food goes!), delicious, and the service and ambiance are always warm and welcoming.
I thought the menu was a great menu, our guests were vegetarian and they had many options. My Salmon was not great, dried out with very little seasoning. Everyone else loved their burgers. The cauliflower appetizer very good.
