You miss if you've never been here. For your african and intercontinental dishes, City Chef is the place to be. You can never regret, and you will always get value for your money.
Oh my goodness, this food is absolutely amazing! Jollof rice is spot on! Suya is perfect! And the chicken? Just divine! I’d give it a 10 out of 10 and definitely recommend it!
Best food in Maryland!
Wow, this is Lagos standard food. Fantastic
If I could give it a zero, I would. Ordered online and when I got there I still had to wait 15 minutes. The smoked wings were tough, the mac and cheese was tasteless and stuck to the foil pan, and the greens were disgusting...they were undercooked and sweet. Soooo disappointed, I threw the food away. $28 wasted.
I just ordered their ribs and Mac and cheese. It was not good at all. I wanted to like this place but never again. It’s definitely not worth the wait or my money.
Jazz jam night is amazing. Lovely to meet people from the community who come together to share music. Thank you to city chef for hosting jazz music. The food is delicious. Real cheesy bubbling hot macaroni and cheese. Sweet cornbread. Stick to your ribs good. -)-)-)-) Thursday night jazz support music support city chef. Smoking for our pleasure on Laurel Bowie road.
I didn't receive all of my food. The ready time kept changing, making me wait an additional 30 minutes from the original time. I gave them another try. I told them that I didn't get all of my order from the night before, so I decided to order the Samosa again, and I got no refund or compensation. After sitting for 15 minutes waiting again, they asked me if I wanted anything else to replace my request. I was on lunch break so I asked what was ready that I could walk out with. I was told their grilled meats. I asked for the ribs... I'm waiting... 20 minutes later I finally got it AND a turkey samoas. I guess you can say that I got compensated, but my lunch hour was shot 😫! I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN on a time crunch!
I really enjoyed the jazz jam session on Thursdays! The food was good and solid portions plus everyone was exceptionally friendly
Went to get something to eat at a different restaurant, but saw this place and went in. I was met by a young person behind the register. He was nice and respectful, but kept saying “Huh?” As I placed my order, which he got wrong. I ordered a 1/4 chicken dark meat, Mac & cheese, Candy yams and potato salad. I added a can soda. The price: $28.38. I was tired and hungry so I didn’t fuss. I went to the Mac & cheese first. It looked amazing, but the cheese was super stuck to the side of the aluminum foil container it was baked in. I scoop out some, taste ok, but when I looked inside the aluminum foil container it was full of oil from the cheese. Potato salad was sweet, had egg in it, but no salt. Candy yams were good. Now the chicken they gave wasn’t what I asked for. They gave me a breast with the wing attached. It looked amazing. It was barbecued and caramelized beautifully. When I bit into it, it was smoky and had this amazing crunch like a sausage. The inside was dry and not seasoned. For the price I was charged you have to do better. Maybe a soda and a piece of cornbread should have come with it. It was dissatisfying.

Let me say this.. the Jerk smoked wings were AMAZING! My kid said the Jollof and Mac n cheese was good also.
Good service and the best rib I every had in my 34 years of life
Wonderful service and wonderful food. I enjoyed the jollof rice. It was rich and tasty, some of the best I have ever had. And the suya was very tasty and spicy. Overall I really enjoyed the service and food and will definitely go back!
