I ordered Jerk with rice, peas and cabbage. The Jerk was not an authentic jerk. I'm not sure why it's called Jerk. It's slightly spicy and very sweet and over powers any jerk seasoning. It tastes More like BBQ chicken. It's the first time I've had jerk with a sweet sauce. I don't like sugar in my savory foods. It's not healthy or even needed and if you are diabetic don't get this dish. Most foods don't need sugar to taste good. The rice and peas and cabbage are ok. Id try the place again and will certainly ask about the sugar content prior to ordering.

The service was good and quick

I ordered fritters and peanut punch. These fritters are just dough and spices there is zero cod fish in them and I’ve never seen them in balls 😩. That peanut punch is the worse I’ve ever had. While I didn’t expect my granny’s food but I didn’t expect to completely waste $14. It’s a no never again for me.

I will never eat from this place again, nor do I recommend it. I bought food from here on Saturday August 16th 2025. The customer service was ok and the atmosphere light. The ordering specification is very confusing for a first time customer and customer service help is neither here nor there. I ordered rice and callaloo and an oxtail dinner. Who would have thought an oxtail dinner is nothing but oxtail; no rice included. I had to order the rice separately and with it festivals. My daughter who loves callaloo threw it away after picking out large pieces of green and red bell peppers from the callaloo and complained about the taste. The taste of the festivals was odd and again we threw those away. For an oxtail dinner that cost $25 dollars a plate, I did myself a disservice not cooking it at home. Let it go on record that I am a Jamaican who loves to eat and goes home often to eat of the delicacy. My experience at Ramoun's kitchen was an insult.

Not fancy, but a great family owned neighborhood restaurant with good authentic Jamaican food, decent pricing and friendly staff. They even have a small bar, Ting and Red Strip Beer. We were a part of five. High raves for the whole curry Red snapper & curry shrimp.

I was craving some Caribbean food so I decided to stop by here. I've been here multiple times but haven't visited much since I don't live as close anymore. Overall, I think thr food was pretty good. I had the oxtail and it was very flavorful with a nice gravy. The rice was suffice but nothing special and the plantains were fine as well.

I also decided to have their rum cake and this was also really delicious. I like my cake a little more on the dryer side with a little bit of moist. Essentially more like a pound cake with a little less rum in terms of the liquid, not the taste per se. There's a Caribbean spot not too far down the road off of Laurel-Bowie that I'd like to try for comparison purposes so we'll see how that goes.

Drove all way to the establishment at 8:50 pm and the doors were locked. The person inside completely ignored me. The hours say it’s open until 12 am at the door, this is highly unprofessional. Will not return.

I have been wanting to try this spot since it opened. I can’t say that my experience was great.

Customer service: was left to be desired. The young lady at the front could be a bit better with customer service. She wasn’t rude but she wasn’t welcoming either.

Food: I ordered jerk chicken and it was VERY dry. Pieces of the chicken were cold when I bit into it. On a chicken leg most of it was warm but there were parts that were cold as if they warmed up refrigerated chicken. This could explain why it was so dry. The jerk sauce was sweet with a little kick. Almost had a BBQ flavor. The cabbage had bones in it for some reason. That was really annoying. I don’t believe the food was cooked today but is warmed up leftovers.

It was my 1st time here! Came from out of town to celebrate my nephew’s 18th Birthday. My jerk pork entree was excellent. But my nephew’s entree, the chicken was fried too dry. So he couldn’t get the full flavor of it. The carrot cake was very delish as well. Overall, it was a great experience. I may visit again when I return in the near future. I recommend this place.

Disappointing Experience from Start to Finish

I’ve given Ramoun’s Kitchen two chances, and I won’t be going back. On my first visit last Wednesday, I tried the Rasta Pasta—decent but overly creamy. My son had the jerk chicken and didn’t like the rice and peas. Now I know why—they tasted off, almost like they were old.

I returned this week and tried the jerk chicken and curry. The jerk tasted like plain baked chicken with jerk sauce poured over it, and the curry had a strange aftertaste. Overall, the food just didn’t taste right.

Both times, we were helped by the same tall woman, identified as Kerry on the receipt. Her attitude was just as uninterested and unwelcoming as the week before. Sadly, this kind of poor service seems to be a pattern at many Caribbean restaurants.

Between the odd taste, disappointing food, and cold service, I wouldn’t recommend this place. I suggest you steer clear.
