My mother and I have driven by this restaurant many times in the past few months and one day we were going to try it. Today was that day and Ruby’s did not disappoint us. I saw a woman coming out with a big bag of food and I asked her. How is the food? She said, “It’s amazing” We didn’t hesitate to get out our vehicle and go in to eat after that recommendation. We were greeted by John and when we informed him this was our first time there he gave us a grand tour of what Ruby’s has to offer us. It was amazing! All the different southern style dishes they have, The desserts were definitely calling my name, and they have their own line of drinks. I got the lemonade and it was awesome recipe made by one of the staff! She was there to see my reaction to her lemonade! I plan to go back and try every flavor! Let’s get into the seating! You seat yourself either at a table or a booth. This place is super clean and the booths are perfect in height for seniors who have trouble sitting or standing. You also have the option to eat your meal outside on their patio dining area.
When your food is ready they call your name and you pick it up at the counter. It’s packed ready to go so if you have leftovers you can just close your tray and take it with you! The food was delicious! I had eggs and bacon, grits, served with biscuits. Nothing needed seasoning. The grits were definitely giving that southern flavor. I can’t wait to go back there. The entire staff was super friendly and they all were smiling and treated us very well. John came from behind the counter and invited us to come back. He answered all my questions about the History of the Restaurant and where the name came from. It was awesome to learn about the owners Aunt Ruby and why this restaurant was named after her. John held the door open for us as we left. This was an extraordinary experience and I can’t wait to tell my family, friends, and followers about Ruby’s!

I had the pleasure of trying their sweet potato pie when my cousin brought a piece back home, and that was absolutely scrumptious. From the crust to the filling you can taste the ingredients The filling was smooth and creamy with no sweet potato strings in it. It was absolutely delicious. If you haven’t come here yet you need to course correct especially if you live in the area.

This particular I visited Rubys and there was a bday party which made it loud to the point where it was difficult for me and the cashier to hear what was being said. I didn’t mind the noise because I had a takeout order. If I wanted to stay I would’ve decided against it due to the loud noise of the large party. The restaurant was very clean and modern. The food was AVERAGE at best! I ordered fried fish, sweet potatoes and apples. Whoever is making the biscuits they need a raise! The fish had NO SEASONING which was very disappointing as a soul food restaurant! The sweet potatoes and apples were average nothing special to make me want to return.

Food is hitting but service is HORRIBLE. Typical up north black establishment. WE DO NOT TREAT FOLKS LIKE THAT IN THE SOUTH so please just say comfort food and leave Southern off of it. I asked for a to go and was about to charged $2. My girl had an attitude for me Thinking I was asked if dining in and setting up my family to be served. She tossed out food on the counter and looked at me like what do you think this is. Trying to eat good is never worth this much headache ever especially as hard as we work for our money in this time of day.

I had no idea this place even existed so it was a pleasant surprise to stumble upon the goodness that is Ruby’s Southern Comfort Kitchen!!! If you grew up with a Southern grandmother like I did who is no longer here, then go quickly to RSK for a taste of nostalgia. We tried the greens, mac and cheese (fire!!!), potato salad ( fire) and smothered Turkey wings along with the yummy cornbread. The plate was perfection and I left with a happy tummy and big smile on my face. Oh, and a nice portion remained for leftovers.

Great customer service in which was so wonderful after the drive from West VA area. The food was very tasty and the restaurant was just fun great energy and good food! I would recommend that if you're in the area give them a try. I was with a group or 8 people and we all expressed how good our dishes were. Thank you to the great teamwork that the employees had, we enjoyed our meal! And a special thanks because I got my food first out of our family :+)

This place slaps! Normally i share pictures of my food but THIS time, I want to highlight pictures of the servers, Chaziah and Zuri, cousins! (Wait! I didnt get an option to share pictures) :( Anyway....
Yes, the food was absolutely delicious.I had the blackened salmon, Mac & cheese and Green Beans w/smoked turkey and my husband had the fried Whiting w/Trinity greens (mustard, collard and turnips mixed) and redskin potatoes and we had a few fried chicken wings on the side.
When I say it was some good food. I mean, it was some good food, but if you are restaurant connoisseurs like my husband and I, you know that service goes a long way. From the moment you walk in the front door to when you check and get your food, they make you feel seen, appreciated and special. I can't wait to get back to this place. It's about an hour away but it is worth the drive. You guys are doing something good at Ruby's! Keep it up and thank you for the hospitality!
