Ava's Pizzeria & Wine Bar - Cambridge

The food was very good. The Detroit pizza was outstanding. The meatballs are a must try. The pesto shrimp was amazing. The Eastern shore beignets were awesome. The grand kids really enjoyed the food. The service was superb. Great place!

We ate in Ava’s in Cambridge last week. Food was ok but when asked for hot cup of tea and coffee the waitress said they had neither. They had ice tea and only espresso. So we ordered espresso and it was served it in a regular coffee cup. Just a little espresso in a regular size coffee cup!! Weird. What restaurant doesn’t serve a regular cup of coffee or tea!!!

We've been to both- Cambridge and St. Michaels-and both are terrific. The Detroit-style pizza is awesome. The crust is crunchy but deceptively light and airy. Salads were great, too. Worth a visit, and then maybe another and another...

Loved it! Meatball slices on the pizza were a perfect mix with the variety of mushrooms, crispy chewy crust was the ideal bed for this great pizza!

Very interesting experience today, not sure why, but again the situation wasn’t remedied, I ask if it’s OK to sit outside today, the waitress said sure and I said that I’ll eat out here. I washed them bring silverware and wait on the table that came after me. The waitress never again greeted me or came to my table. Then somebody came out and told me that they were going to give my table to somebody else. Again, no hello, no high, no can we help you? And when I ask what I’ve done to make a mad or that they wouldn’t wait on me. I just got that look in the eye from the person I was talking to. Then he asked oh are you gonna be dining with us then? I guess not. Considering that I’ve done there many times, love their food, and as previous rating shows, I thought they were pretty excellent. I guess things change. As far as all the other questions about noise and size and food I can’t answer today. I do have a policy if not hanging around somewhere I’m not welcomed.
Update: Sept 25, 2025: I emailed at the address mentioned when I posted. as of today I have still not received any correspondence back, and I figure, all things even, a week is plenty of time. I noticed the review got an instant reply, although it looked very reminiscent of previous replies to other customers, which basically didn't take any direct responsibility for the incidents, in fact as I read through them, I noticed a subtle and consistent shift in responsibility or direct denial. :(. I am also left to question if any of the other patrons received any response if they had written/emailed.
So review stands as it is.

We went the night before the Ironman so it was busy. The food came out very quickly like impressively fast, couldn’t image on a normal night. Food was great definitely recommend it.
