Visited the bakery during a girls weekend with my mom and sister. The mimosa bucket was wonderful and a great value! I tried the crab omelet - everything we got was delicious. The pastries looked amazing! Definitely make a reservation.

Had a delicious slice of quiche with Cole slaw as my side. Great service. Comfy environment. Good parking. The Harriet Tubman mural is just across the street in the rear left-hand side of the park. Not sure why it isn't in a more prominent spot. The waitress didn't even know it was there!

This review is a tough one to write… But, finally needs to happen. And absolutely has nothing at all to do with the wonderful faire offered… But does, however, have everything to do with the service staff…
My wife and I have had breakfast or brunch at Black Water Bakery many times over the past three years since moving to the area… Again, never a complaint about any of the food or drink we’ve ever had. Superb!
What we have noticed though, is how the staff reacts to customers when the owner (Jamie) is not around… The times when she has been there, she’s been so very nice and extremely attentive, not only to us but to all the customers.
But, In her absence, the servers need to understand that it’s called the hospitality industry for a reason, and should lead by the example of the owner.
To the staff: Just do better is all!

DISRESPECTFUL WORKER! My two friends and I were across the street at the Harriet Tubman museum when my friend suddenly had to use the restroom. The museum restroom was out of service and we looked outside to the nearest establishment for her to go. We enter Blackwater, and my friend was having an emergency and immediately was running to the bathroom. We are not from the area, we are from St Michael’s and are not used to any worker hostility. When my friend enters the bathroom, an older lady maybe in her 40-50s begins yelling at me asking if I need help or I wanted to sit down. I realized maybe I need to buy something for my friend to use the restroom which is understandable. I look around to see what I could possibly get and I respond saying “my friend needs to use the restroom but I…” and I was immediately cut off and told how bathrooms are for customer only and that we were not accepted in here. Before she rudely interrupted me I was going to say I would buy something if needed however her ignorance and attitude quickly distracted me from giving her any hint of kindness. She was extremely disrespectful some of her remarks included “these bathrooms are for customers only not you guys” and “there are plenty of free bathrooms all around and you people did not need to come into here” and many more comments along these lines while shaking her head. Mean while I am not the person using the bathroom I was actually willing to buy something if it was not for her Ill-mannered behavior. If she kindly stated I needed to purchase something i would have been completely understanding. But instead she choose to be rude and leaves me to question if me and my friends skin color has anything to do with the immediate hostility. I felt completely unwelcomed, disrespected, and was left in complete shock with how rudely I was being treated, I couldn’t even formulate a sentence to respond back to her. I’ve never experienced so much disrespect from an establishment before. I really hope she can learn that kindness could have gone a long ways with how she treats people and I would have happily purchased something if she choose friendliness over treating us like trash off the street. It was an emergency and we did not deserve to be treated like that.

I had a fantastic experience at Blackwater Cafe! It was a beautiful day, and stepping inside felt like a breath of fresh air. The staff was accommodating, and I let them know I'd be sitting outside, where the prices are reasonable. I ordered a BLT and coffee, and the service was prompt. The waitress brought out a cup of ice water and a cute little saucer for the milk, which was a nice touch. The food arrived in a reasonable time and was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be coming back. The only downside was the abundance of flies outside, but they had a small wind machine that helped keep them at bay. Overall, a great spot to enjoy a meal!

Kid-friendliness: I was drawn to this cafe, when I saw the family outside having lunch, it is definitely a family friendly location

Black Water Bakery is a gem--outstanding food, personable and attentive customer service, and an owner who knows how to create customer experiences that keep them coming back. I recommend this local eatery to all my friends and guests when they are in town...and my kids get mad at me if I don't come home with a pastry from here.

This is a great place to eat, pick up some pastries or just grab a coffee. They use frozen coffee cubes in their ice coffees! It's little touches like that, that make this place awesome.

Black Water is such a vibe. My family and I sat at the corner table near the window and it was very quaint. The food was delicious and the service was quick. This is the perfect place for a breakfast date or brunch. I especially enjoyed the French toast bites and mimosas. My only complaint would be the cut of the scrapple. Very thin and crispy which is the opposite of how I like mine. Overall 4/5 and I would definitely go back.

Parking: Free parking lot is on the side of the building.

Kid-friendliness: The tablet is lined with brown paper and there are crayons for the kids to draw on the paper.
