Barely any service. Server greeted us with 5 iced waters (most of us including young children don’t drink iced water), no plates to share appetizers, no knowledge around drinks, no description of any menu items, had to ask for more napkins and kid’s lids (which they don’t have). Worst of all, by the time kids are tired and ready to get home, she left the bill on our table and chatted with another table for a solid 10 minutes until I decided to pay at the bar. By the time I left the signed bill on the table she’s still showing her back towards me. I left standard dinner tips. None of us is caucasian, but she’s probably too young and naive to be in the service industry in a modern diverse community. We are here to celebrate Mid-autumn festival and determined to focus our energy on good time with family. Moon is beautiful on water. Food is decent, drink is a bit bland. Fun menu to read, would come back to the same waterfront but try a different restaurant.

When we made a reservation for two, we asked for a window seating. We were seated across from the window and was told all seating was taken for four. As dinner progressed, only two people were seated at these tables. We ordered oysters which was smalland clams on the half shell which was spicy.
We ordered a filet that had a lot of seasoning and was unable to be eaten. We ordered seared rock fish which was very dry, hardly any sauce. Also we were not offered bread and butter but the other customers were. Needless to say, we did not like the dinner and it ruined our anniversary. We will not be back.

A decent restaurant with a beautiful location on the Delaware canal that has attentive service, nice dining areas inside and out and food that is good ( not outstanding, but good). Prices are reasonable given the location and overall ambience. Hoping the food steps up a bit in offerings and taste. Definitely a nice restaurant to enjoy a meal no matter the reason.

Came in on a Tuesday for lunch, food was just not good as well as extremely overpriced.
Views are the only thing I can recommended here unfortunately
67$(with 8% tip) for MAYBE 6 TINY chicken wings, a crab / corn fritter entree that tasted entirely like a ball of bread, and an orange crush.
The crab fritters were 5 tiny balls of bread. If you're going to attempt the fancy & expensive route it should be at least good tasting.
I've taken people here for years, unfortunately never again

Hostess seated us at a table & we asked to sit at a high top instead. She said the bar would take care of us and walked away with menus and silverware. Sat in bar area for 15 minutes & no one acknowledged us. Only 4 people at the bar and 2 bartenders. Bartender finally leaned across the bar to offer drinks. We asked to order food and she told us we need to come up to the bar to order. Not interested in self serve. Won’t be going back.
Didn’t even get drinks. Sat there for seven minutes without an acknowledgment. When the bartender came around, she looked down. Didn’t even greet us. Asked us what we wanted. Finally another five minutes. Nothing. Left didn’t even get a drink.
Bar had four people at it.
Great place! Service was a little slow. Nice views.

The food was very good, especially the crab cakes, they were in effect nothing but crab. The Maryland crab soup was the best I’ve ever tried.
We sat near a rather loud party and the a/c was blowing right on us, so we asked to be seated elsewhere.
Other than that, the Bayard House is a great establishment, right on the water with great view of the bay. We recommend it, it won’t disappoint.
It’s also adjacent to a number of houses/businesses built around 1830, but maintained in excellent condition, so it makes for an interesting walk in the streets around it.
Disappointing at best. The Bayard House has so much potential given its beautiful location, but it consistently falls short. They never seem to have enough staff, which affects both service and overall experience. Even more frustrating, the food that arrives at the table rarely matches what’s advertised online—both in quality and presentation. It’s a real shame, especially considering how great this place used to be.
Over priced. Jun 2025. We for lunch and a cup of crab soup $14. Was just ok
Used to have much better food, service and prices.
My faith in this place has been completely restored after my last visit. We frequented the Hole in the Wall bar back in 2018, and it’s been a few years since our not so great experience, but that was different ownership and the new staff is out of this world. Lovely bartenders, and we’re so happy the wonderful ambiance is back!
This is a lovely place with great food selections and a beautiful view of the river and bridge. They are currently doing some renovations, but their outdoor seating is lovely. The wait staff is courteous and kind, will explain everything to you and make sure that your meal is to your satisfaction. The menu has everything from soups to dinner salads and desserts. I had a cajun po boy and it was fantastic. I rarely eat the bun, but with the fresh tomatoes and lettuce with a cajun sauce, I ate every bite. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant.
