Super cool adult only bar and restaurant thqt serves some really yummy shareable plates in the heart of Chestertown!. Cozy yet upscale and affordable with some amazing creative items on the menu, from oysters to a liver mousse! Cool cocktails too!. Server was spot on with recommendations!. . We will be back, without kids of course!. Great date Night spot!
This is our go to place. You will never be disappointed in the food service or the vast knowledge of the mixology for a specific drink. Such a gem located so close to home. Just go, you will not be disappointed.

Beautifully decorated bar and some of the best seafood in Maryland. The Orchard Point oysters are awesome, house made cocktail sauce was definitely a hit. Wife really enjoyed the ceaser salad.

A gem in Chestertown. Interesting menu with a wide (but not too wide) array of starters and main dishes, well-prepared and reasonably priced. Same for the wine list. Service is friendly and knowledgeable, but not cloying. Atmosphere is casual and welcoming. The noise level can be a bit high when the dining room is crowded, but a table around the perimeter helps with that issue. The bar is convivial and the bartender/owner incredibly knowledgeable about spirits and ways to enjoy them.

We were in Chestertown for the weekend and ended up going here for dinner both nights. The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious. There are a lot of tasty options in the menu and I only feel like I tried half of them. We can’t wait to return!

Our first poor experience at the Retriever was on November 20th. Unfortunately the Chili was a disappointing dried clump of shredded beef coated in what might have been chili powder but had absolutely no resemblance of chili!!!! And the chicken sandwich was too little chicken and too much bread. On a brighter note the water was wet, the ice cold and the patrons friendly.

The food was very good, especially the chicken mousse/pate and the roasted carrots/fennel appetizers. The service was mostly OK. But the server did not take away the cocktail glasses and the appetizer plates for far too long. In fact, when she served the mains, we had to move the plates out of the way. There were four of them.

Knowledgeable and friendly service. The dining room is attractive with comfotable upholstered high back chairs. We were 2 couples and all enjoyed our meal selections. Our friends had the smash burger and shrimp and grits. I had muscles and my husband had the chicken sandwich which was tender thigh meat and flavorful. Great selection of wine, craft beer and whiskeys. We will come again.
