Long line out the door but we got in and out within 15 minutes. Nice staff. Welcoming and friendly. Food was good. We got a frosted cinnamon bun , strawberry Danish and coffee , all were good. Its not saying much but its the best in our area. Too much to try at once and will come back soon.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Blackmarket Bakery in Edgewater for years, so I was genuinely excited to see a new location open just a couple of miles from home. With the legacy of both Wagon Wheel and Pat’s Bakery tied to this spot, I had high hopes for a warm, welcoming experience paired with the great food I’ve come to expect.
Unfortunately, what I encountered was the opposite.
After being greeted by a pleasant staff member, I asked about purchasing a loaf or two of sourdough and was told to order at the register. I proceeded there, assuming that was the correct process—especially as others were placing more complex orders.
Enter Tom O’Leary.
Rather than offering guidance or clarity, he addressed me with an attitude that was unnecessarily curt and condescending. I calmly pointed out that I was happy to follow any process but that the ordering system should be clear to avoid confusion. When I mentioned how tight the parking situation was, Tom responded—not with empathy or professionalism—but with, “That’s not my problem, that’s your problem.”
That response says it all.
It’s disappointing that a place known for quality and community would allow someone so dismissive and unprofessional to be the face of its new location. No matter how good the food is, customer experience matters—and this one was unacceptable.
Blackmarket Bakery just lost a long-time customer, and I won’t be returning to this location.

Holy Moly! As a former resident here…family visiting from Denver, Colorado. This place and its foods are just amazing! Every bite is unbelievably delicious! I chomped them all within five minutes. This place will definitely be a new gem for the Churchton/Shady Side community for years to come! 🤤🤤🤤

I love Black Market Bakers! 😊 all the vegan foods they have is so yummy. My last time I was in , one of the workers surprised me with a free scone because he wanted me to try a different flavor! It’s one of my favorite food places with all the vegan options! i cant wait to be back soon! 🥰

This place is amazing! No wonder people drive sometimes for hours to get there...Everything is of the highest quality...Baked goods made with care and love. The Old-fashioned Cinnamon Roll with Cream Cheese Icing was the best I ever had! And the vegan sandwich that is Truly good: When they say 'has avocado,' they mean Lots of avocado...just the way it should be. And to make the whole experience really special, the staff was over-the-top friendly and helpful. A real delight!
