I had heard great things about the food at the Tidewater. I'd like to say I was impressed but sadly I was not. I had the fried rice special. It was ok. The shrimp was slightly undercooked, and the dish was overpowered by ginger in my opinion. One of my lunch guests had the Reuben and she said the corned beef was very tough. The ambiance was great. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. I hope that the chef can improve the food and I will be happy to return.
The wait for our food was much too long. Only when we started to get restless did our server explain to us that the steak meant for one of our party had been instead given to another table and that ours was being cooked.
This was my first time eating at Hunter's Tavern and I had mixed feelings. First of all the room was lovely and very quiet. I loved the ambiance which made it easy to have a conversation. The food was good, but not the best I've ever had. The Cream of Crab soup was good, but barely lukewarm and every bite of crab had shells in it. I would order it again because it tasted good, but should have sent it back so they could warm it up. The caesar salad was delicious, however...
