Nestled in a bustling shopping center alongside Honey Pig, Chin Xi'an Style Restaurant is a hidden gem that specializes in handpulled, numbing Szechuan noodles.
During our Saturday lunch visit, the restaurant was buzzing with activity. Limited seating means you might have to wait 5-10 minutes for a table during peak times, but trust me, it’s worth it. The atmosphere is casual yet vibrant, perfect for a quick meal.
We started with the 12 Hour Stewed Pork Hand Pulled Noodles and the Spicy Pork Noodles, alongside the “you pick 3” cold dishes: dried tofu skin, sweet heat cabbage, and shredded potatoes. We couldn’t resist adding a Spicy Cumin Beef Murger, served in a crisp baked flatbread.
The handpulled noodles were undeniably the highlight. Each strand was perfectly al dente, with just the right amount of chew. The stewed pork noodles stole the show—flavorful, tender, and the kind of comfort food that warms your soul. The spicy pork noodles were a bit of a letdown in comparison; while enjoyable, they lacked the bold flavor profile that made the stewed pork so memorable.
The cold dishes were a delightful accompaniment. The crunchy texture of the shredded potatoes and sweet heat cabbage provided a refreshing contrast to the chewy noodles. They added a nice touch of variety to our meal.
As for the Murger, it was decent. The cumin flavor was prominent and well-executed, making it a satisfying choice to round out our meal.
Overall, Chin Xi'an is an excellent spot for those craving authentic Szechuan flavors. The noodles are the star, and with a few tweaks to some dishes, this place could easily elevate itself to must-visit status. If you find yourself in Ellicott City, make sure to stop by for a taste of their handpulled noodles—you won’t regret it!
Vegetarian options: several vegetarian options
Parking: plenty of adjacent lot parking
Kid-friendliness: menu is somewhat friendly to kids as long as they like noodles
Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant can get a little cramped at peak hours for a wheelchair. No stairs present is a plus

The food here is so flavorful. Especially the beef burger. The biang biang noodles re really good too, as well as the cold cut beef. Their sour plum drink is also REALLY good, delicate flavor and not just sweet. Very delicious and polite!!

Chin Xian restaurant offers a variety of dishes. The lamb is flavorful, the cold dishes are decent, and the Murger is worth trying.

Food great. Service terrible. Two servers for a full restaurant and one also bussing. Couldn't get one to make eye contact to get a check. Just order takeout.

WARNING IF YOU ORDER
TO-GO YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO TAKE IT TO-GO.
This is more a warning to guest to be mindful. We ordered to-go cause we knew we weren't going to eat all our food and since it was neatly placed already in to-go boxes, I thought that would be easier to clean up and leave when ready. So we order our food and next window over, ordered our tea. We were told we will recieve text messages for the food when ready.
Our tea was announced when ready so we picked it up and sat back down waiting for our food. Well after about 15 minutes or so the guy made contact with us saying our food was ready and it's sitting over there. We replied sorry we didn't know we were waiting for the messages that he forgot to send.
We sat back down with our food, about to unbox it when we were told we couldn't eat in there. I was beyond baffled because it was their food just in a different container.
There should really be signs saying seating is for dine in orders only. I've never have ordered food from an establishment and been told I can't eat in there. If anything ordering to-go saves unnecessary use of dishes and utensils.
So beware when ordering here. If you plan to eat a little while there. Then make sure you select dine in!!!

Did not expect an authentic hand-grasped lamb here in Maryland. Delicious meat and noodles.

Felt very disrespected while here. We ordered something in a takeout style so we could take it to go in a bag when done, and were told we weren’t allowed to eat it in store simply because we selected it as “to go” when we ordered it on the kiosk. Even after they had already moved us from what was apparently a dine in table so we already weren’t using the dine in space to eat. We offered to leave tip or remedy the situation somehow, but were rudely refused. Have never had a pleasant customer experience in this store ever since the Xi’An place opened next to Bengongs.
Ordered the cumin lamb noodles and it was honestly one of the best dishes I've ever had. Service was polite and efficient.

Love this place's noodles. Great flavorful spicy heat. My only complaint is you can't really customize orders, cuz the menu is totally preset. I'd like to add egg and tomato to the veggie noodles for a bit of protein. Small gripe! Every time my fiancee goes here I ask her to bring back their N1 spicy chili noodles :
