My friend and I were on the hunt for some delicious Nigerian food, and we stumbled upon a place with excellent reviews. Unbeknownst to us, it turned out to be a virtual restaurant where you simply order your food and pick it up. The enticing photos and stellar ratings for African cuisine had us excited, so we had high hopes.
I decided to try the Ewa Agoyin, but it was a letdown. As soon as I opened the package, I was hit with the overwhelming smell of burnt beans—as if I had made them myself at home and forgotten about them. The odor was quite off-putting, and the sauce fell far short of my expectations.
This experience solidified my decision not to return. It was definitely not worth the money.

“The food was terrible. I specifically ordered egusi (NO MEAT), as stated on the menu, but instead, I received a dish filled with large chunks of meat. It looked like they just threw leftovers onto my plate. The taste was horrible, and it was a complete waste of money. Never again.”

I ordered jollof rice, egusi soup, and pounded yam from Foodsleeve for a party, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The food was absolutely amazing—flavorful, authentic, and cooked to perfection. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the rich taste of the jollof rice and the deliciously savory egusi soup. On top of that, the customer service was outstanding. The team at Foodsleeve was incredibly responsive, accommodating all of my requests, and ensuring that everything was on point for the event. I highly recommend Foodsleeve for anyone looking for top-notch African cuisine

I don’t always do reviews but I must. This is the first time I went and when I say my mind is racing of all the positive things to say about that egusi soup and swallow. Marvelous. Thank you. I’ll be back again

I would like to start off by saying that this is takeout or delivery only. That needs to be updated. That is the only reason they did not get a 5 from me. The option to reserve a table is here, and it just is not that kind of place.
Now I want to get into the food. I thoroughly enjoyed the food that I ordered yesterday for lunch ($26). I ws a little shocked by the price, but when I saw the portion and tasted the food, I realized it was well worth the money. I will be ordering from this place again. I did not order my favorite this time, so I will have to try the Gbono and Egusi next. I am in Dundalk, so I like that they are close for pickup. Keep up the good work ladies!

After seeing several five-star reviews, I decided to take a chance and order from Foodsleeve through DoorDash. The packaging was well-sealed and properly packed, which is why I gave the service and atmosphere 3 stars to be fair. I opted for the egusi, pounded yam, jollof combo with chicken and goat meat. The egusi and pounded yam were decent, although being new to these dishes, I can't judge if they tasted or smelled as they should. However, the jollof combo was a disappointment. Everything had a burnt flavor, as if it was cooked in a burnt pot. While the jollof could have been good without this burnt taste, the plantains were enjoyable. Unfortunately, the goat meat and chicken were severely overcooked to the point where they had the texture of jerky. It was so tough that my jaw grew tired from trying to chew it. In the end, I had to discard everything, which was frustrating considering the $51 I paid for the meal. I'm starting to doubt the authenticity of the other reviews or wondering if the day I ordered was just a bad one.

A Promising First Taste of Nigerian TakeoutI recently tried "Food Sleeve" for the first time, and it was an experience that left a mark. It's a unique spot, focusing on takeout rather than a dine-in experience, something I wish I'd known beforehand.**A Flavorful Introduction:**The meal I had was their pounded yam with egusi and okra soups. It's rare to find such authentic and heartwarming Nigerian cuisine so far from home. The freshness, taste, and generous portion sizes were spot on. It was a delightful first impression.**The Journey to Flavor Town:**It was a 45-minute drive for me, but the quality of the food made it worthwhile. Their service was quick and efficient, a pleasant surprise for a first-timer like myself.**Room for Improvement:**I'm holding back on the full five-star rating for now, as I believe in experiencing a place a few times before giving a final verdict. Plus, a clearer indication on their online presence that they're exclusively a takeout establishment would be helpful for new customers.**Early Verdict:**So far, "Food Sleeve" has impressed me with their authentic Nigerian flavors and efficient service. It's a solid four stars from me at this point. I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu in the future to solidify my opinion. For anyone craving true Nigerian tastes, "Food Sleeve" is definitely worth trying – just remember, it's all about the pickup.
